In
the meantime,
a crowd
of
many thousands
had gathered,
so that
they were trampling
one another.
[Jesus] began
to speak
first
to
His
disciples:
“Beware
of
the
yeast
of the
Pharisees,
which
is
hypocrisy.

Someone
in
the
crowd
said
to Him,
“Teacher,

13
Εἶπεν

κληρονομίαν
14
But
[Jesus] replied,
“Man,
who
appointed
Me
judge
or
executor
between
you?”
14
Ὁ
δὲ
εἶπεν
αὐτῷ
Ἄνθρωπε
τίς
με
κατέστησεν
κριτὴν
ἢ
μεριστὴν
ἐφ’
ὑμᾶς
15
And
He said
to
them,
“Watch out!
Guard yourselves
against
every [form of]
greed,
for
a man’s
life
does not consist
in
the
abundance
of
his
possessions.”
15
εἶπεν
δὲ
πρὸς
αὐτούς
Ὁρᾶτε
καὶ

ἀπὸ
πάσης
πλεονεξίας
ὅτι
οὐκ
ἐν
τῷ
περισσεύειν
τινὶ
ἡ
ζωὴ
αὐτοῦ
ἐστιν
ἐκ
τῶν
ὑπαρχόντων
αὐτῷ
16
Then
He told
them
a parable:
“The
ground
of a certain
rich
man
produced an abundance.
16
Εἶπεν
δὲ
παραβολὴν
πρὸς
αὐτοὺς
λέγων
Ἀνθρώπου
τινὸς
πλουσίου
εὐφόρησεν
ἡ
χώρα
17
So
he thought
to
himself,
‘What
shall I do,
since
I have
nowhere
to store
my
crops?’
17
καὶ
διελογίζετο
ἐν
ἑαυτῷ
λέγων
Τί
ποιήσω
ὅτι
οὐκ
ἔχω
ποῦ
συνάξω
τοὺς
καρπούς
μου
18
Then
he said,
‘This [is what]
I will do:
I will tear down
my
barns
and
will build
bigger [ones],
and
there
I will store up
all
my
grain
and
[my]
goods.
18
καὶ
εἶπεν
Τοῦτο

καθελῶ

τὰς
ἀποθήκας
καὶ
μείζονας
οἰκοδομήσω
καὶ
συνάξω
ἐκεῖ
πάντα
τὸν
σῖτον
καὶ
τὰ
ἀγαθά
μου
19
Then
I will say
to
myself,
“You
have
plenty of
good things
laid up
for
many
years.
Take it easy.
Eat,
drink,
[and] be merry!”’
19
καὶ
ἐρῶ
τῇ
ψυχῇ

Ψυχή

πολλὰ
ἀγαθὰ
κείμενα

20
But
God
said
to him,
‘[You] fool!
This
very
night
your
life
will be required
of
you.
Then
who
will own
what
you have accumulated?’
20
Εἶπεν

God.”
21
Οὕτως
ὁ
θησαυρίζων

22
Then
[Jesus] said
to
His
disciples,
“Therefore
I tell
you,
{do} not

about
your life,
what
you will eat,
[or]
about

what

22
Εἶπεν

Διὰ

τῇ

23
For

23
ἡ

24
Consider
the
ravens:
They do not sow
[or]
reap;
they
have
no
storehouse
[or]
barn,
yet
God
feeds
them.
How much
more
valuable are you
than the
birds!
24
κατανοήσατε

ὅτι

25
Who
of
you
by worrying

a single hour
to
his

25
τίς
δὲ

ὑμῶν
μεριμνῶν

26
So
if
you cannot [do]
such a small thing,
why
do you worry
about
the
rest?
26
εἰ

τί
περὶ
τῶν
λοιπῶν

27
Consider
how
the
lilies
grow:
They do not labor
[or]
spin.
Yet
I tell
you,
not even
Solomon
in
all
his
glory
was adorned
like
one
of these.
27
Κατανοήσατε
τὰ

‹αὐξάνει

οὐδὲ
Σολομὼν
ἐν

δόξῃ
αὐτοῦ

28
If
that is how
God
clothes
the
grass
of
[the] field,
which is [here]
today
and
tomorrow
is thrown
into
the furnace,
how much
[more will He clothe]
you,
O [you] of little faith!
28
εἰ

ὀλιγόπιστοι
29
And
{do} not
be concerned about
what
you will eat

{Do} not

29
Καὶ
ὑμεῖς
μὴ

καὶ
τί

καὶ
μὴ

30
For
the
nations
of the
world
strive after
all
these things,
and
your
Father
knows
that
you need
them.
30
ταῦτα
γὰρ

τοῦ
κόσμου

31
But
seek
His
kingdom,
and
these things
will be added
unto you.
31
πλὴν
ζητεῖτε
τὴν
βασιλείαν
αὐτοῦ
καὶ
ταῦτα

ὑμῖν
32
{Do} not
be afraid,
little
flock,
for
your
Father
is pleased
to give
you
the
kingdom.
32
Μὴ

τὸ
μικρὸν
ποίμνιον
ὅτι
εὐδόκησεν
ὁ
Πατὴρ
ὑμῶν

ὑμῖν
τὴν
βασιλείαν
33
Sell
your
possessions
and
give
to the poor.
Provide
yourselves
[with] purses
[that will] not
wear out,
an inexhaustible
treasure
in
heaven,
where
no
thief
approaches
[and] no
moth
destroys.
33
Πωλήσατε
τὰ
ὑπάρχοντα
ὑμῶν
καὶ
δότε
ἐλεημοσύνην
ποιήσατε
ἑαυτοῖς
βαλλάντια
μὴ
παλαιούμενα
θησαυρὸν
ἀνέκλειπτον
ἐν
τοῖς
οὐρανοῖς
ὅπου
κλέπτης
οὐκ
ἐγγίζει
οὐδὲ
σὴς
διαφθείρει
34
For
where
your
treasure
is,
there
your
heart
will be
also.
34
ὅπου
γάρ
ἐστιν
ὁ
θησαυρὸς
ὑμῶν
ἐκεῖ

Be

35
Ἔστωσαν

36
Then
you
[ will be ] like
[servants]
waiting for
their
master
to return
from
the
wedding banquet,
so that
when he comes
and
knocks,
they can open [the door]
for him
at once.
36

37
Blessed [are]
those
servants
whom
the
master

on watch
when he returns.
Truly
I tell
you,
he will dress himself to serve
and
will have them recline at the table,
and
he [himself] will come
[and] wait on
them.
37
μακάριοι

καὶ

αὐτοῖς
38
Even if
he comes
in
the
second
or
third
watch of the night
and
finds [them]
alert,
those [servants]
will be
blessed!
38
κἂν

39
But
understand
this:
If
the

had known
at what

the
thief
was coming,
he would not have let
his
house
be broken into.
39
Τοῦτο

Peter,

45
But

in
his
heart,
‘My
master
will be a long time
in coming,’
and
he begins
to beat
the
male
and
female servants,
and
to eat

and

45

The
