How blessed are those whose life is blameless, who walk in the Law of the LORD! | 1Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. |
How blessed are those who observe his decrees, who seek him with all of their heart, | 2Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart-- |
who practice no evil while they walk in his ways. | 3they do no wrong but follow his ways. |
You have commanded concerning your precepts, that they be guarded with diligence. | 4You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. |
Oh, that my ways were steadfast, so I may keep your statutes. | 5Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! |
Then I will not be ashamed, since my eyes will be fixed on all of your commands. | 6Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. |
I will praise you with an upright heart, as I learn your righteous decrees. | 7I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. |
I will keep your statutes; do not ever abandon me. | 8I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. |
How can a young man keep his behavior pure? By guarding it in accordance with your word. | 9How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. |
I have sought you with all of my heart; do not let me drift away from your commands. | 10I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. |
I have stored what you have said in my heart, so I won't sin against you. | 11I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. |
Blessed are you, LORD! Teach me your statutes. | 12Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. |
I have spoken with my lips about all your decrees that you have announced. | 13With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. |
I find joy in the path of your decrees, as if I owned all kinds of riches. | 14I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. |
I will meditate on your precepts, and I will respect your ways. | 15I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. |
I am delighted with your statutes; I will not forget your word. | 16I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. |
Deal kindly with your servant so I may live and keep your word. | 17Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. |
Open my eyes so that I will observe amazing things from your instruction. | 18Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. |
Since I am a stranger on the earth, do not hide your commands from me. | 19I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. |
My soul is consumed with longing for your decrees at all times. | 20My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. |
You rebuke the accursed ones, who wander from your commands. | 21You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. |
Remove scorn and disrespect from me, for I observe your decrees. | 22Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. |
Though nobles take their seat and gossip about me, your servant will meditate on your statutes. | 23Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. |
I take joy in your decrees, for they are my counselors. | 24Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors. |
My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word. | 25I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. |
I have talked about my ways, and you have answered me; Teach me your statutes. | 26I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. |
Help me understand how your precepts function, and I will meditate on your wondrous acts. | 27Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. |
I weep because of sorrow; fortify me according to your word. | 28My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. |
Remove false paths from me; and graciously give me your instruction. | 29Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. |
I have chosen the faithful way; I have firmly placed your ordinances before me. | 30I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. |
I cling to your decrees; LORD, do not put me to shame. | 31I hold fast to your statutes, LORD; do not let me be put to shame. |
I eagerly race along the way of your commands, for you enable me to do so. | 32I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. |
Teach me, LORD, about the way of your statutes, and I will observe them without fail. | 33Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. |
Give me understanding and I will observe your instruction. I will keep it with all of my heart. | 34Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. |
Help me live my life by your commands, because my joy is in them. | 35Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. |
Turn my heart to your decrees and away from unjust gain. | 36Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. |
Turn my eyes away from gazing at worthless things, and revive me by your ways. | 37Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. |
Confirm your promise to your servant, which is for those who fear you. | 38Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. |
Turn away the shame that I dread, because your ordinances are good. | 39Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. |
Look, I long for your precepts; revive me through your righteousness. | 40How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life. |
May your gracious love come to me, LORD, your salvation, just as you said. | 41May your unfailing love come to me, LORD, your salvation, according to your promise; |
Then I can answer the one who insults me, for I place my trust in your word. | 42then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word. |
Never take your truthful words from me, For I wait for your ordinances. | 43Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. |
Then I will always keep your Law, forever and ever, | 44I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. |
I will walk in liberty, for I seek your precepts. | 45I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. |
Then I will speak of your decrees before kings and not be ashamed. | 46I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, |
I will take delight in your commands, which I love. | 47for I delight in your commands because I love them. |
I will lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. | 48I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees. |
Remember what you said to your servant, by which you caused me to hope. | 49Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. |
This is what comforts me in my troubles: that what you say revives me. | 50My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. |
Even though the arrogant utterly deride me, I do not turn away from your instruction. | 51The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law. |
I have remembered your ancient ordinances, LORD, and I take comfort in them. | 52I remember, LORD, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them. |
I burn with indignation because of the wicked who forsake your instruction. | 53Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law. |
Your statutes are my songs, no matter where I make my home. | 54Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge. |
In the night I remember your name, LORD, and keep your instruction. | 55In the night, LORD, I remember your name, that I may keep your law. |
I have made it my personal responsibility to keep your precepts. | 56This has been my practice: I obey your precepts. |
The LORD is my inheritance; I have given my promise to keep your word. | 57You are my portion, LORD; I have promised to obey your words. |
I have sought your favor with all of my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. | 58I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. |
I examined my lifestyle and set my feet in the direction of your decrees. | 59I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. |
I hurried and did not procrastinate to keep your commands. | 60I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. |
Though the ropes of the wicked have ensnared me, I have not forgotten your instruction. | 61Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law. |
At midnight I will get up to thank you for your righteous ordinances. | 62At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. |
I am united with all who fear you, and with everyone who keeps your precepts. | 63I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts. |
LORD, the earth overflows with your gracious love! Teach me your statutes. | 64The earth is filled with your love, LORD; teach me your decrees. |
LORD, you have dealt well with your servant, according to your word. | 65Do good to your servant according to your word, LORD. |
Teach me both knowledge and appropriate discretion, because I believe in your commands. | 66Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. |
Before I was humbled, I wandered away, but now I observe your words. | 67Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. |
LORD, you are good , and do what is good; teach me your statutes. | 68You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. |
The arrogant have accused me falsely; but I will observe your precepts wholeheartedly. | 69Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. |
Their minds are clogged as with greasy fat, but I find joy in your instruction. | 70Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. |
It was for my good that I was humbled; so that I would learn your statutes. | 71It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. |
Instruction that comes from you is better for me than thousands of gold and silver coins. | 72The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. |
Your hands made and formed me; give me understanding, that I may learn your commands. | 73Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. |
May those who fear you see me and be glad, for I have hoped in your word. | 74May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. |
I know, LORD, that your decrees are just, and that you have rightfully humbled me. | 75I know, LORD, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. |
May your gracious love comfort me in accordance with your promise to your servant. | 76May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. |
May your mercies come to me that I may live, for your instruction is my delight. | 77Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. |
May the arrogant become ashamed, because they have subverted me with deceit; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts. | 78May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts. |
May those who fear you turn to me, along with those who know your decrees. | 79May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes. |
May my heart be blameless with respect to your statutes so that I may not become ashamed. | 80May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame. |
I long for your deliverance; I have looked to your word, placing my hope in it. | 81My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. |
My eyes grow weary with respect to what you have promised— I keep asking, "When will you comfort me?" | 82My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, "When will you comfort me?" |
Though I have become like a water skin dried by smoke, I have not forgotten your statutes. | 83Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. |
How many days must your servant endure this? When will you judge those who persecute me? | 84How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? |
The arrogant have dug pitfalls for me disobeying your instruction. | 85The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law. |
All of your commands are reliable. I am persecuted without cause—help me! | 86All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause. |
Though the arrogant nearly destroyed me on earth, I did not abandon your precepts. | 87They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. |
Revive me according to your gracious love; and I will keep the decrees that you have proclaimed. | 88In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth. |
Your word is forever, LORD; it is firmly established in heaven. | 89Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. |
Your faithfulness continues from generation to generation. You established the earth, and it stands firm. | 90Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. |
To this day they stand by means of your rulings, for all things serve you. | 91Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. |
Had your instruction not been my pleasure, I would have died in my affliction. | 92If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. |
I will never forget your precepts, for you have revived me with them. | 93I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. |
I am yours, so save me, since I have sought your precepts. | 94Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. |
The wicked lay in wait to destroy me, while I ponder your decrees. | 95The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes. |
I have observed that all things have their limit, but your commandment is very broad. | 96To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless. |
How I love your instruction! Every day it is my meditation. | 97Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. |
Your commands make me wiser than my adversaries, since they are always with me. | 98Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. |
I am more insightful than my teachers, because your decrees are my meditations. | 99I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. |
I have more common sense than the elders, for I observe your precepts. | 100I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. |
I keep away from every evil choice so that I may keep your word. | 101I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. |
I do not avoid your judgments, for you pointed them out to me. | 102I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. |
How pleasing is what you have to say to me— tasting better than honey. | 103How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! |
I obtain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every false way. | 104I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. |
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my pathway. | 105Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. |
I have given my word and affirmed it, to keep your righteous judgments. | 106I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. |
I am severely afflicted. Revive me, LORD, according to your word. | 107I have suffered much; preserve my life, LORD, according to your word. |
LORD, please accept my voluntary offerings of praise, and teach me your judgments. | 108Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. |
Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I do not forget your instruction. | 109Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. |
Though the wicked lay a trap for me, I haven't wandered away from your precepts. | 110The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. |
I have inherited your decrees forever, because they are the joy of my heart. | 111Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. |
As a result, I am determined to carry out your statutes forever. | 112My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. |
I despise the double-minded, but I love your instruction. | 113I hate double-minded people, but I love your law. |
You are my fortress and shield; I hope in your word. | 114You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. |
Leave me, you who practice evil, that I may observe the commands of my God. | 115Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God! |
Sustain me, God, as you have promised, and I will live. Do not let me be ashamed of my hope. | 116Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. |
Support me, that I may be saved, and I will carry out your statutes consistently. | 117Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees. |
You reject all who wander from your statutes, since their deceitfulness is vain. | 118You reject all who stray from your decrees, for their delusions come to nothing. |
You remove all the wicked of the earth like dross; therefore I love your decrees. | 119All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross; therefore I love your statutes. |
My flesh trembles out of fear of you, and I am in awe of your judgments. | 120My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws. |
I have acted with justice and righteousness; do not abandon me to my oppressors. | 121I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. |
Back up your servant in a positive way; do not let the arrogant oppress me. | 122Ensure your servant's well-being; do not let the arrogant oppress me. |
My eyes fail as I look for your salvation and for your righteous promise. | 123My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your righteous promise. |
Act toward your servant consistent with your gracious love, and teach me your statutes. | 124Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. |
Since I am your servant, give me understanding, so I will know your decrees. | 125I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. |
It is time for the LORD to act, since they have violated your instruction. | 126It is time for you to act, LORD; your law is being broken. |
I truly love your commands more than gold, including fine gold. | 127Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, |
I truly consider all of your precepts—all of them—to be just, while I despise every false way. | 128and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path. |
Your decrees are wonderful— that's why I observe them. | 129Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. |
The disclosure of your words illuminates, providing understanding to the simple. | 130The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. |
I open my mouth and pant as I long for your commands. | 131I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands. |
Turn in my direction and show mercy to me, as you have decreed regarding those who love your name. | 132Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. |
Direct my footsteps by your promise, and do not let any kind of iniquity rule over me. | 133Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. |
Deliver me from human oppression and I will keep your precepts. | 134Redeem me from human oppression, that I may obey your precepts. |
Show favor to your servant, and teach me your statutes. | 135Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees. |
My eyes shed rivers of tears, when others do not obey your instruction. | 136Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed. |
LORD, you are righteous, and your judgments are right. | 137You are righteous, LORD, and your laws are right. |
You have ordered your decrees to us rightly, and they are very faithful. | 138The statutes you have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy. |
My zeal consumes me because my enemies forget your words. | 139My zeal wears me out, for my enemies ignore your words. |
Your word is very pure, and your servant loves it. | 140Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them. |
Though I may be small and despised, I do not neglect your precepts. | 141Though I am lowly and despised, I do not forget your precepts. |
Your righteousness is an eternal righteousness, and your instruction is true. | 142Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. |
Though trouble and anguish overwhelm me, your commands remain my delight. | 143Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. |
Your righteous decrees are eternal; give me understanding, and I will live. | 144Your statutes are always righteous; give me understanding that I may live. |
I have cried out with all of my heart. Answer me, LORD! I will observe your statutes. | 145I call with all my heart; answer me, LORD, and I will obey your decrees. |
I have called out to you, "Save me, so I may keep your decrees." | 146I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes. |
I get up before dawn and cry for help; I place my hope in your word. | 147I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. |
I look forward to the night watches, when I may meditate on what you have said. | 148My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises. |
Hear my voice according to your gracious love. LORD, revive me in keeping with your justice. | 149Hear my voice in accordance with your love; preserve my life, LORD, according to your laws. |
Those who pursue wickedness draw near; they remain far from your instruction. | 150Those who devise wicked schemes are near, but they are far from your law. |
You are near, LORD, and all of your commands are true. | 151Yet you are near, LORD, and all your commands are true. |
I discovered long ago about your decrees that you have confirmed them forever. | 152Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last forever. |
Look on my misery, and rescue me, for I do not ignore your instruction. | 153Look on my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law. |
Defend my case and redeem me; revive me according to your promise. | 154Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise. |
Deliverance remains remote from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes. | 155Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek out your decrees. |
Your mercies are magnificent, LORD; revive me according to your judgments. | 156Your compassion, LORD, is great; preserve my life according to your laws. |
Though my persecutors and adversaries are numerous, I do not turn aside from your decrees. | 157Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes. |
I watch the treacherous, and despise them, because they do not do what you have said. | 158I look on the faithless with loathing, for they do not obey your word. |
Look how I love your precepts, LORD; revive me according to your gracious love. | 159See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, LORD, in accordance with your love. |
The sum of your word is truth, and each righteous ordinance of yours is everlasting. | 160All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. |
Though nobles persecute me for no reason, my heart stands in awe of your words. | 161Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word. |
I find joy at what you have said like one who has discovered a great treasure. | 162I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil. |
I despise and hate falsehood, but I love your instruction. | 163I hate and detest falsehood but I love your law. |
I praise you seven times a day because of your righteous ordinances. | 164Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws. |
Great peace belongs to those who love your instruction, and nothing makes them stumble. | 165Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. |
I am looking in hope for your deliverance, LORD, as I carry out your commands. | 166I wait for your salvation, LORD, and I follow your commands. |
My soul treasures your decrees, and I love them deeply. | 167I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly. |
I keep your precepts and your decrees because all of my ways are before you. | 168I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you. |
May my cry arise before you, LORD; give me understanding according to your word. | 169May my cry come before you, LORD; give me understanding according to your word. |
Let my request come before you; deliver me, as you have promised. | 170May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. |
May my lips utter praise, for you teach me your statutes. | 171May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. |
May my tongue sing about your promise, for all of your commands are right. | 172May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous. |
May your hand stand ready to assist me, for I have chosen your precepts. | 173May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. |
I am longing for your deliverance, LORD, and your instruction is my joy. | 174I long for your salvation, LORD, and your law gives me delight. |
Let me live, and I will praise you; let your ordinances help me. | 175Let me live that I may praise you, and may your laws sustain me. |
I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come find your servant, for I do not forget your commands. | 176I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands. |
