In the biblical context, arrogance is often associated with those who oppose God's ways and rely on their own understanding. The psalmist's plea for them to be "put to shame" reflects a desire for divine justice. Shame, in the ancient Near Eastern culture, was a powerful social and personal consequence, often leading to repentance or a change in behavior.
