In the context of the Bible, the term "announce" refers to the act of proclaiming, declaring, or making known a message or event, often with divine significance. Throughout Scripture, announcements are made by God, angels, prophets, and others to convey important messages to individuals or groups.

Divine Announcements

God frequently makes announcements to His people, often through His chosen messengers. In the Old Testament, God announces His covenant with Abraham, promising to make him the father of many nations (Genesis 17:4-5). Similarly, God announces His intentions and plans through the prophets, as seen in Amos 3:7: "Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets."

Angel Announcements

Angels serve as divine messengers, delivering announcements of great significance. One of the most notable angelic announcements is the birth of Jesus Christ. In Luke 1:30-31, the angel Gabriel announces to Mary: "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus." Similarly, an angel announces the birth of John the Baptist to Zechariah in Luke 1:13.

Prophetic Announcements

Prophets in the Bible are often tasked with announcing God's messages to His people. These announcements can include calls to repentance, warnings of impending judgment, or promises of future restoration. For example, Isaiah announces the coming of the Messiah, saying, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders" (Isaiah 9:6).

Public Announcements

In the New Testament, public announcements play a crucial role in the spread of the Gospel. John the Baptist announces the coming of the Messiah, urging people to repent and prepare the way for the Lord (Matthew 3:1-3). Jesus Himself makes announcements about the Kingdom of God, as seen in Mark 1:15: "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel."

Apostolic Announcements

The apostles continue the tradition of making significant announcements, particularly concerning the resurrection of Jesus and the offer of salvation. Peter's sermon at Pentecost is a prime example, where he announces to the crowd that Jesus, whom they crucified, has been raised from the dead and is both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36).

Eschatological Announcements

The Bible also contains announcements concerning the end times and the return of Christ. In Revelation, John receives visions that include announcements of judgment and the ultimate victory of God. Revelation 11:15 declares, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever."

Throughout Scripture, announcements serve as pivotal moments that reveal God's will, communicate His promises, and call His people to action. Whether through divine, angelic, prophetic, or apostolic means, these announcements underscore the unfolding of God's redemptive plan for humanity.
