Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD! | 1Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. |
Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, | 2Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart-- |
who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! | 3they do no wrong but follow his ways. |
You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. | 4You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. |
Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! | 5Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! |
Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. | 6Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. |
I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. | 7I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. |
I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me! | 8I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. |
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. | 9How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. |
With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! | 10I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. |
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. | 11I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. |
Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes! | 12Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. |
With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. | 13With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. |
In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. | 14I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. |
I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. | 15I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. |
I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word. | 16I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. |
Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word. | 17Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. |
Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. | 18Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. |
I am a sojourner on the earth; hide not your commandments from me! | 19I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. |
My soul is consumed with longing for your rules at all times. | 20My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. |
You rebuke the insolent, accursed ones, who wander from your commandments. | 21You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. |
Take away from me scorn and contempt, for I have kept your testimonies. | 22Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. |
Even though princes sit plotting against me, your servant will meditate on your statutes. | 23Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. |
Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors. | 24Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors. |
My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word! | 25I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. |
When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! | 26I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. |
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. | 27Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. |
My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word! | 28My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. |
Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law! | 29Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. |
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me. | 30I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. |
I cling to your testimonies, O LORD; let me not be put to shame! | 31I hold fast to your statutes, LORD; do not let me be put to shame. |
I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart! | 32I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. |
Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end. | 33Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. |
Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart. | 34Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. |
Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. | 35Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. |
Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain! | 36Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. |
Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. | 37Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. |
Confirm to your servant your promise, that you may be feared. | 38Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. |
Turn away the reproach that I dread, for your rules are good. | 39Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. |
Behold, I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life! | 40How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life. |
Let your steadfast love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; | 41May your unfailing love come to me, LORD, your salvation, according to your promise; |
then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word. | 42then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word. |
And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules. | 43Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. |
I will keep your law continually, forever and ever, | 44I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. |
and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts. | 45I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. |
I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame, | 46I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, |
for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love. | 47for I delight in your commands because I love them. |
I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. | 48I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees. |
Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope. | 49Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. |
This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life. | 50My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. |
The insolent utterly deride me, but I do not turn away from your law. | 51The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law. |
When I think of your rules from of old, I take comfort, O LORD. | 52I remember, LORD, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them. |
Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked, who forsake your law. | 53Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law. |
Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my sojourning. | 54Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge. |
I remember your name in the night, O LORD, and keep your law. | 55In the night, LORD, I remember your name, that I may keep your law. |
This blessing has fallen to me, that I have kept your precepts. | 56This has been my practice: I obey your precepts. |
The LORD is my portion; I promise to keep your words. | 57You are my portion, LORD; I have promised to obey your words. |
I entreat your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. | 58I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. |
When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies; | 59I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. |
I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments. | 60I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. |
Though the cords of the wicked ensnare me, I do not forget your law. | 61Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law. |
At midnight I rise to praise you, because of your righteous rules. | 62At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. |
I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts. | 63I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts. |
The earth, O LORD, is full of your steadfast love; teach me your statutes! | 64The earth is filled with your love, LORD; teach me your decrees. |
You have dealt well with your servant, O LORD, according to your word. | 65Do good to your servant according to your word, LORD. |
Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments. | 66Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. |
Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word. | 67Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. |
You are good and do good; teach me your statutes. | 68You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. |
The insolent smear me with lies, but with my whole heart I keep your precepts; | 69Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. |
their heart is unfeeling like fat, but I delight in your law. | 70Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. |
It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. | 71It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. |
The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. | 72The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. |
Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments. | 73Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. |
Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in your word. | 74May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. |
I know, O LORD, that your rules are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. | 75I know, LORD, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. |
Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant. | 76May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. |
Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight. | 77Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. |
Let the insolent be put to shame, because they have wronged me with falsehood; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts. | 78May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts. |
Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies. | 79May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes. |
May my heart be blameless in your statutes, that I may not be put to shame! | 80May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame. |
My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word. | 81My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. |
My eyes long for your promise; I ask, “When will you comfort me?” | 82My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, "When will you comfort me?" |
For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, yet I have not forgotten your statutes. | 83Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. |
How long must your servant endure? When will you judge those who persecute me? | 84How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? |
The insolent have dug pitfalls for me; they do not live according to your law. | 85The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law. |
All your commandments are sure; they persecute me with falsehood; help me! | 86All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause. |
They have almost made an end of me on earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. | 87They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. |
In your steadfast love give me life, that I may keep the testimonies of your mouth. | 88In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth. |
Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. | 89Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. |
Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast. | 90Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. |
By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants. | 91Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. |
If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. | 92If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. |
I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life. | 93I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. |
I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts. | 94Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. |
The wicked lie in wait to destroy me, but I consider your testimonies. | 95The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes. |
I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your commandment is exceedingly broad. | 96To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless. |
Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. | 97Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. |
Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. | 98Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. |
I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. | 99I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. |
I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. | 100I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. |
I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. | 101I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. |
I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me. | 102I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. |
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! | 103How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! |
Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. | 104I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. |
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. | 105Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. |
I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rules. | 106I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. |
I am severely afflicted; give me life, O LORD, according to your word! | 107I have suffered much; preserve my life, LORD, according to your word. |
Accept my freewill offerings of praise, O LORD, and teach me your rules. | 108Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. |
I hold my life in my hand continually, but I do not forget your law. | 109Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. |
The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts. | 110The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. |
Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart. | 111Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. |
I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end. | 112My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. |
I hate the double-minded, but I love your law. | 113I hate double-minded people, but I love your law. |
You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word. | 114You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. |
Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God. | 115Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God! |
Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live, and let me not be put to shame in my hope! | 116Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. |
Hold me up, that I may be safe and have regard for your statutes continually! | 117Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees. |
You spurn all who go astray from your statutes, for their cunning is in vain. | 118You reject all who stray from your decrees, for their delusions come to nothing. |
All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross, therefore I love your testimonies. | 119All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross; therefore I love your statutes. |
My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments. | 120My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws. |
I have done what is just and right; do not leave me to my oppressors. | 121I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. |
Give your servant a pledge of good; let not the insolent oppress me. | 122Ensure your servant's well-being; do not let the arrogant oppress me. |
My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise. | 123My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your righteous promise. |
Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love, and teach me your statutes. | 124Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. |
I am your servant; give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies! | 125I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. |
It is time for the LORD to act, for your law has been broken. | 126It is time for you to act, LORD; your law is being broken. |
Therefore I love your commandments above gold, above fine gold. | 127Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, |
Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right; I hate every false way. | 128and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path. |
Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them. | 129Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. |
The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. | 130The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. |
I open my mouth and pant, because I long for your commandments. | 131I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands. |
Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is your way with those who love your name. | 132Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. |
Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me. | 133Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. |
Redeem me from man’s oppression, that I may keep your precepts. | 134Redeem me from human oppression, that I may obey your precepts. |
Make your face shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes. | 135Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees. |
My eyes shed streams of tears, because people do not keep your law. | 136Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed. |
Righteous are you, O LORD, and right are your rules. | 137You are righteous, LORD, and your laws are right. |
You have appointed your testimonies in righteousness and in all faithfulness. | 138The statutes you have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy. |
My zeal consumes me, because my foes forget your words. | 139My zeal wears me out, for my enemies ignore your words. |
Your promise is well tried, and your servant loves it. | 140Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them. |
I am small and despised, yet I do not forget your precepts. | 141Though I am lowly and despised, I do not forget your precepts. |
Your righteousness is righteous forever, and your law is true. | 142Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. |
Trouble and anguish have found me out, but your commandments are my delight. | 143Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. |
Your testimonies are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live. | 144Your statutes are always righteous; give me understanding that I may live. |
With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O LORD! I will keep your statutes. | 145I call with all my heart; answer me, LORD, and I will obey your decrees. |
I call to you; save me, that I may observe your testimonies. | 146I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes. |
I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words. | 147I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. |
My eyes are awake before the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promise. | 148My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises. |
Hear my voice according to your steadfast love; O LORD, according to your justice give me life. | 149Hear my voice in accordance with your love; preserve my life, LORD, according to your laws. |
They draw near who persecute me with evil purpose; they are far from your law. | 150Those who devise wicked schemes are near, but they are far from your law. |
But you are near, O LORD, and all your commandments are true. | 151Yet you are near, LORD, and all your commands are true. |
Long have I known from your testimonies that you have founded them forever. | 152Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last forever. |
Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law. | 153Look on my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law. |
Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to your promise! | 154Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise. |
Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes. | 155Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek out your decrees. |
Great is your mercy, O LORD; give me life according to your rules. | 156Your compassion, LORD, is great; preserve my life according to your laws. |
Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, but I do not swerve from your testimonies. | 157Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes. |
I look at the faithless with disgust, because they do not keep your commands. | 158I look on the faithless with loathing, for they do not obey your word. |
Consider how I love your precepts! Give me life according to your steadfast love. | 159See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, LORD, in accordance with your love. |
The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever. | 160All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. |
Princes persecute me without cause, but my heart stands in awe of your words. | 161Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word. |
I rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil. | 162I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil. |
I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love your law. | 163I hate and detest falsehood but I love your law. |
Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous rules. | 164Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws. |
Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble. | 165Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. |
I hope for your salvation, O LORD, and I do your commandments. | 166I wait for your salvation, LORD, and I follow your commands. |
My soul keeps your testimonies; I love them exceedingly. | 167I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly. |
I keep your precepts and testimonies, for all my ways are before you. | 168I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you. |
Let my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word! | 169May my cry come before you, LORD; give me understanding according to your word. |
Let my plea come before you; deliver me according to your word. | 170May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. |
My lips will pour forth praise, for you teach me your statutes. | 171May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. |
My tongue will sing of your word, for all your commandments are right. | 172May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous. |
Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. | 173May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. |
I long for your salvation, O LORD, and your law is my delight. | 174I long for your salvation, LORD, and your law gives me delight. |
Let my soul live and praise you, and let your rules help me. | 175Let me live that I may praise you, and may your laws sustain me. |
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments. | 176I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands. |
