[Jesus] said
to
His
disciples,
“It is
inevitable
that
stumbling blocks
will come,
but
woe [ to the one ]
through
whom
they come!

Εἶπεν

Ἀνένδεκτόν
ἐστιν
τοῦ
τὰ
σκάνδαλα
μὴ
ἐλθεῖν
πλὴν*

οὗ
ἔρχεται

It would be better
for him
to have
a millstone
hung
around
his
neck
and
to be thrown
into
the
sea
than
{to cause}
one
of these
little [ones]
to stumble.

λυσιτελεῖ
αὐτῷ
εἰ
λίθος
μυλικὸς
περίκειται
περὶ
τὸν
τράχηλον
αὐτοῦ
καὶ
ἔρριπται
εἰς
τὴν
θάλασσαν
ἢ
ἵνα
σκανδαλίσῃ
τῶν
μικρῶν
τούτων
ἕνα

Watch
yourselves.
If
your
brother
sins,
rebuke
him;
and
if
he repents,
forgive
him.

Προσέχετε
ἑαυτοῖς
ἐὰν
ἁμάρτῃ
ὁ
ἀδελφός
σου
ἐπιτίμησον
αὐτῷ
καὶ
ἐὰν
μετανοήσῃ
ἄφες
αὐτῷ

Even
if
he sins
against
you
seven times
in a
day,
and
seven times
returns
to say,
‘I repent,’
you must forgive
him.”

καὶ
ἐὰν
ἑπτάκις
τῆς
ἡμέρας
ἁμαρτήσῃ
εἰς
σὲ
καὶ
ἑπτάκις
ἐπιστρέψῃ
πρὸς
σὲ
λέγων
Μετανοῶ
ἀφήσεις
αὐτῷ

The
apostles
said
to the
Lord,
“Increase
our
faith!”

Καὶ
εἶπαν
οἱ
ἀπόστολοι
τῷ
Κυρίῳ
Πρόσθες
ἡμῖν
πίστιν
6
And
the
Lord
answered,
“If
you have
faith
the size
of a mustard seed,
you can say
to this
mulberry tree,
‘Be uprooted
and
planted
in
the
sea,’
and
it will obey
you.

Εἶπεν

Κύριος
Εἰ
ἔχετε
πίστιν
ὡς
κόκκον
σινάπεως
ἐλέγετε
ἂν
τῇ
συκαμίνῳ
ταύτῃ
Ἐκριζώθητι
καὶ
φυτεύθητι
ἐν
τῇ
θαλάσσῃ
καὶ
ὑπήκουσεν
ἂν
ὑμῖν

Which
of
you
[whose]
servant
comes in
from
plowing
or
shepherding
in the
field
will say
to him,
‘Come
at once
[and] sit down to eat’?

Τίς
δὲ
ἐξ
ὑμῶν
δοῦλον
ἔχων
ἀροτριῶντα
ἢ
ποιμαίνοντα
ὃς
εἰσελθόντι
ἐκ
τοῦ
ἀγροῦ
ἐρεῖ
αὐτῷ
Εὐθέως
παρελθὼν
ἀνάπεσε

Instead,
won’t he tell
him,
‘Prepare
my meal
and
dress yourself
to serve
me
while
I eat
and
drink;
and
afterward
you
may eat
and
drink’?

ἀλλ’
οὐχὶ
ἐρεῖ
αὐτῷ
Ἑτοίμασον
τί
δειπνήσω
καὶ
περιζωσάμενος
διακόνει
μοι
ἕως
φάγω
καὶ
πίω
καὶ
μετὰ
ταῦτα
φάγεσαι
καὶ
πίεσαι
σύ

Does he
thank
the
servant
because
he did
what
he was told?

μὴ
ἔχει
χάριν
τῷ
δούλῳ
ὅτι
ἐποίησεν
τὰ
διαταχθέντα
10
So
you
also,
when
you have done
everything
commanded
of you,
should say,
‘We are
unworthy
servants;
we have only done
our duty.’”

οὕτως
καὶ
ὑμεῖς
ὅταν
ποιήσητε
πάντα
τὰ
διαταχθέντα
ὑμῖν
λέγετε
ὅτι
Δοῦλοι
ἀχρεῖοί
ἐσμεν
ὃ
ὠφείλομεν
ποιῆσαι
πεποιήκαμεν

While
[Jesus] was on His way
to
Jerusalem,
He
was passing
between
Samaria
and
Galilee.

Καὶ
ἐγένετο
ἐν
τῷ
πορεύεσθαι
εἰς
Ἰερουσαλὴμ
καὶ
αὐτὸς
διήρχετο
διὰ
μέσον
Σαμαρείας
καὶ
Γαλιλαίας

As
He
entered
one of
[the] villages,
He
was met
by ten
lepers.
[They]
stood
at a distance
12
καὶ
εἰσερχομένου
αὐτοῦ
εἴς
τινα
κώμην
ἀπήντησαν
[αὐτῷ]
δέκα
λεπροὶ
ἄνδρες
οἳ
ἔστησαν
πόρρωθεν

and
raised
[their] voices,
shouting,
“Jesus,
Master,
have mercy on
us!”

καὶ
αὐτοὶ
ἦραν
φωνὴν
λέγοντες
Ἰησοῦ
Ἐπιστάτα
ἐλέησον
ἡμᾶς
14
When [Jesus] saw [them],
He said,
“Go,
show
yourselves
to the
priests.”
And
as
they
were on their way,
they were cleansed.

Καὶ
ἰδὼν
εἶπεν
αὐτοῖς
Πορευθέντες
ἐπιδείξατε
ἑαυτοὺς
τοῖς
ἱερεῦσιν
καὶ
ἐγένετο
ἐν
τῷ
ὑπάγειν
αὐτοὺς
ἐκαθαρίσθησαν

When
one
of
them
saw
that
he was healed,
he came back,
praising
God
in
a loud
voice.

Εἷς
δὲ
ἐξ
αὐτῶν
ἰδὼν
ὅτι
ἰάθη
ὑπέστρεψεν
μετὰ
φωνῆς
μεγάλης
δοξάζων
τὸν
Θεόν

He fell
facedown
at
[Jesus’]
feet
in thanksgiving
to Him—
and
he
was
a Samaritan.

καὶ
ἔπεσεν
ἐπὶ
πρόσωπον
παρὰ
τοὺς
πόδας
αὐτοῦ
εὐχαριστῶν
αὐτῷ
καὶ
αὐτὸς
ἦν
Σαμαρίτης

“{Were} not
[all]
ten
cleansed?”
Jesus
asked.
“Where then are
the [other]
nine?

Ἀποκριθεὶς
δὲ
ὁ
Ἰησοῦς
εἶπεν
Οὐχὶ*
οἱ
δέκα
ἐκαθαρίσθησαν
οἱ
δὲ
ἐννέα
ποῦ

Was no one found
except
this
foreigner
to return
[and] give
glory
to God?”

οὐχ
εὑρέθησαν
ὑποστρέψαντες
δοῦναι
δόξαν
τῷ
Θεῷ
εἰ
μὴ
ὁ
ἀλλογενὴς
οὗτος

Then
[Jesus] said
to him,
“Rise
[and] go;
your
faith
has made you well!”

καὶ
εἶπεν
αὐτῷ
Ἀναστὰς
πορεύου
ἡ
πίστις
σου
σέσωκέν
σε
20
When asked
by
the
Pharisees
when
the
kingdom
of God
would come,
[Jesus] replied,
“The
kingdom
of God
{will} not
come
with
observable signs.

Ἐπερωτηθεὶς
δὲ
ὑπὸ
τῶν
Φαρισαίων
πότε
ἔρχεται
ἡ
βασιλεία
τοῦ
Θεοῦ
ἀπεκρίθη
αὐτοῖς
καὶ
εἶπεν
Οὐκ
ἔρχεται
ἡ
βασιλεία
τοῦ
Θεοῦ
μετὰ
παρατηρήσεως

Nor
will [people] say,
‘Look,
here [it is],’
or
‘There [it is].’
For
you see,
the
kingdom
of God
is
in your
midst.”

οὐδὲ
ἐροῦσιν
Ἰδοὺ
ὧδε
ἤ
Ἐκεῖ
ἰδοὺ
γὰρ
ἡ
βασιλεία
τοῦ
Θεοῦ
ἐντὸς
ὑμῶν
ἐστιν

Then
He said
to
the
disciples,
“[The] time
is coming
when
you will long
to see
one
of the
days
of the
Son
of Man,
but
you will not see [it].

Εἶπεν

ἡμέραι
ὅτε
ἐπιθυμήσετε
μίαν
τῶν
ἡμερῶν
τοῦ
Υἱοῦ

ὄψεσθε

[People] will tell
you,
‘Look,
there [He is],’
or
‘Here [He is].’
{Do} not
go out
[or]
chase after [them].

καὶ
ἐροῦσιν
ὑμῖν
Ἰδοὺ
ἐκεῖ
[ἤ]
Ἰδοὺ
ὧδε
μὴ
ἀπέλθητε
μηδὲ
διώξητε

For
as
the
lightning
flashes
[and] lights up
the
sky
from
[one end]
to
the [other],
so
will be
the
Son
of Man
in
His
day.

ὥσπερ
γὰρ
ἡ
ἀστραπὴ
ἀστράπτουσα
ἐκ
τῆς
ὑπὸ
τὸν
οὐρανὸν
εἰς
τὴν
ὑπ’
οὐρανὸν
λάμπει
οὕτως
ἔσται
ὁ
Υἱὸς
τοῦ
ἀνθρώπου
ἐν
τῇ
ἡμέρᾳ
αὐτοῦ

But
first
He
must
suffer
many things
and
be rejected
by
this
generation.

πρῶτον
δὲ
δεῖ
αὐτὸν
πολλὰ
παθεῖν
καὶ
ἀποδοκιμασθῆναι
ἀπὸ
τῆς
γενεᾶς
ταύτης

Just
as
it was
in
the
days
of Noah,
so
also
will it be
in
the
days
of the
Son
of
Man:

Καὶ
καθὼς
ἐγένετο
ἐν
ταῖς
ἡμέραις
Νῶε
οὕτως
ἔσται
καὶ
ἐν
ταῖς
ἡμέραις
τοῦ
Υἱοῦ
τοῦ
ἀνθρώπου

[People] were eating
[and] drinking,
marrying
[and] being given in marriage,
up to
[the]
day
Noah
entered
the
ark.
Then
the
flood
came
and
destroyed
them all.

ἤσθιον
ἔπινον
ἐγάμουν
ἐγαμίζοντο
ἄχρι
ἧς
ἡμέρας
εἰσῆλθεν
Νῶε
εἰς
τὴν
κιβωτόν
καὶ
ἦλθεν

κατακλυσμὸς
καὶ
ἀπώλεσεν

It was
the same
in
the
days
of Lot:
[People] were eating
[and] drinking,
buying
[and] selling,
planting
[and] building.

Ὁμοίως
καθὼς
ἐγένετο
ἐν
ταῖς
ἡμέραις
Λώτ
ἤσθιον
ἔπινον
ἠγόραζον
ἐπώλουν
ἐφύτευον
ᾠκοδόμουν

But
on the
day
Lot
left
Sodom,
fire
and
brimstone
rained down
from
heaven
and
destroyed
them all.

ᾗ
δὲ
ἡμέρᾳ
ἐξῆλθεν
Λὼτ
ἀπὸ
Σοδόμων
ἔβρεξεν
πῦρ
καὶ
θεῖον
ἀπ’
οὐρανοῦ
καὶ
ἀπώλεσεν
πάντας

It will be
just like that
on the
day
the
Son
of Man
is revealed.

Κατὰ
τὰ
αὐτὰ
ἔσται
ᾗ
ἡμέρᾳ
ὁ
Υἱὸς
τοῦ
ἀνθρώπου
ἀποκαλύπτεται

On
that
day,
{let} no one
on
the
housetop
come down
to
retrieve
his
possessions.
Likewise,
{let} no one
in
[the] field
return
for
anything
[he has] left behind.

Remember
Lot’s
wife!

Whoever
tries
to save
his
life
will lose
it,
but
whoever
loses [his life]
will preserve
it.

ψυχὴν

αὐτήν
ὃς

I tell
you,
on that
night
two [people]
will be
in
one
bed:
One
will be taken
and
the
other
left.

παραλημφθήσεται

Two [women]
will be
grinding grain
together:
One
will be taken
and
the
other
left.”

ἀφεθήσεται

Two
will be
in
the
field;
the
one
will be taken,
and
the
other
will be left.

“Where,
Lord?”
they asked.
[Jesus] answered,
“Wherever [there is]

carcass,
there
the
vultures
will gather.”
