| 1Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. | 1It was now just before the Passover Feast, and Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to the Father. | 2And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, | 2The evening meal was underway, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. |
| 3Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, | 3Jesus knew that the Father had delivered all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was returning to God. |

| 27Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.” | 27And when Judas had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to Judas, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” |

| 29For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him, “Buy those things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor. | 29Since Judas kept the money bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the feast, or to give something to the poor. |
| 30Having received the piece of bread, he then went out immediately. And it was night. | 30As soon as he had received the morsel, Judas went out into the night. |

Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now, but you will follow later.” |
| 37Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.” | 37“Lord,” said Peter, “why can’t I follow You now? I will lay down my life for You.” |
| 38Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times. | 38“Will you lay down your life for Me?” Jesus replied. “Truly, truly, I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times. |
