| 3Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. | 9Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. | 9Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews learned that Jesus was there. | 17Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. | 17Meanwhile, many people continued to testify that they had been with Jesus when He called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead. |
| 18For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. | 18That is also why the crowd went out to meet Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign. |

| 35Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. | 35Then Jesus told them, “For a little while longer, the Light will be among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. |

| 39Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: | 39For this reason they were unable to believe. For again, Isaiah says: |
| 40“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.” | 40“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they cannot see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.” |

| 42Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; | 42Nevertheless, many of the leaders believed in Him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue. |
| 43for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. | 43For they loved praise from men more than praise from God. |

| 48He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him— the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. | 48There is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not receive My words: The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. |
| 49For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. | 49I have not spoken on My own, but the Father who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and how to say it. |
| 50And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.” | 50And I know that His command leads to eternal life. So I speak exactly what the Father has told Me to say.” |
