New International VersionKing James Bible
Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings.1And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you.4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Messiah,' and will deceive many.5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
All these are the beginning of birth pains.8All these are the beginning of sorrows.
"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
"So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand--15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house.17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak.18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again.21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
"If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it.23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
See, I have told you ahead of time.25Behold, I have told you before.
"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the wilderness,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
"Immediately after the distress of those days "'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
"Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.37But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,'48But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.49And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of.50The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.51And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
