Jesus Appears at the Sea of Galilee
1Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things), ἐφανέρωσεν (revealed) ἑαυτὸν (Himself) πάλιν (again) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοῖς (to the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) ἐπὶ (at) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) τῆς (-) Τιβεριάδος (of Tiberias). ἐφανέρωσεν (He revealed Himself) δὲ (now) οὕτως (in this way):
2ἦσαν (They were) ὁμοῦ (together), Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter), καὶ (and) Θωμᾶς (Thomas) ὁ (-) λεγόμενος (called) Δίδυμος (Didymus), καὶ (and) Ναθαναὴλ (Nathanael) ὁ (-) ἀπὸ (from) Κανᾶ (Cana) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (of Galilee), καὶ (and) οἱ (the sons) τοῦ (-) Ζεβεδαίου (of Zebedee), καὶ (and) ἄλλοι (others) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) μαθητῶν (disciples) αὐτοῦ (His) δύο (two).
3λέγει (Says) αὐτοῖς (to them) Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter), “Ὑπάγω (I am going) ἁλιεύειν (to fish).”
Λέγουσιν (They say) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἐρχόμεθα (Come) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we) σὺν (with) σοί (you).” ἐξῆλθον (They went forth) καὶ (and) ἐνέβησαν (went up) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) πλοῖον (boat), καὶ (and) ἐν (during) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) νυκτὶ (night) ἐπίασαν (they caught) οὐδέν (nothing).
4Πρωΐας (Morning) δὲ (now) ἤδη (already) γενομένης* (having come), ἔστη (stood) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἰς (on) τὸν (the) αἰγιαλόν (shore); οὐ (not) μέντοι (however) ᾔδεισαν (knew) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐστιν (it is).
5λέγει (Says) οὖν (therefore) αὐτοῖς (to them) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Παιδία (Children), μή (not) τι (any) προσφάγιον (fish) ἔχετε (have you)?”
Ἀπεκρίθησαν (They answered) αὐτῷ (Him), “Οὔ (No).”
6Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Βάλετε (Cast) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) δεξιὰ (right) μέρη (side) τοῦ (of the) πλοίου (boat) τὸ (the) δίκτυον (net), καὶ (and) εὑρήσετε (you will find some).” ἔβαλον (They cast) οὖν (therefore), καὶ (and) οὐκέτι (not) αὐτὸ (it) ἑλκύσαι (to haul in) ἴσχυον (were they able), ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) πλήθους (multitude) τῶν (of the) ἰχθύων (fish).
7Λέγει (Says) οὖν (therefore) ὁ (the) μαθητὴς (disciple) ἐκεῖνος (that) ὃν (whom) ἠγάπα (loved) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τῷ (-) Πέτρῳ (to Peter), “Ὁ (The) Κύριός (Lord) ἐστιν (it is).” Σίμων (Simon) οὖν (therefore) Πέτρος (Peter), ἀκούσας (having heard) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Κύριός (Lord) ἐστιν (it is), τὸν (the) ἐπενδύτην (outer garment) διεζώσατο (put on)— ἦν (he was) γὰρ (for) γυμνός (naked)— καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (he cast) ἑαυτὸν (himself) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea).
8οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ἄλλοι (the other) μαθηταὶ (disciples) τῷ (in the) πλοιαρίῳ (boat) ἦλθον (came), οὐ (not) γὰρ (for) ἦσαν (were they) μακρὰν (far) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) γῆς (land), ἀλλὰ (but) ὡς (about) ἀπὸ (away) πηχῶν (cubits) διακοσίων (two hundred),a σύροντες (dragging) τὸ (the) δίκτυον (net) τῶν (with the) ἰχθύων (fish).
9Ὡς (When) οὖν (therefore) ἀπέβησαν (they got out) εἰς (onto) τὴν (the) γῆν (land), βλέπουσιν (they see) ἀνθρακιὰν (a fire of coals) κειμένην (lying), καὶ (and) ὀψάριον (fish) ἐπικείμενον (lying on it), καὶ (and) ἄρτον (bread).
10Λέγει (Says) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἐνέγκατε (Bring) ἀπὸ (some of) τῶν (the) ὀψαρίων (fish) ὧν (that) ἐπιάσατε (you have caught) νῦν (now).”
11ἀνέβη (Went up) ‹οὖν› (therefore) Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter) καὶ (and) εἵλκυσεν (drew) τὸ (the) δίκτυον (net) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (land), μεστὸν (full) ἰχθύων (of fish) μεγάλων (large), ἑκατὸν (a hundred) πεντήκοντα (fifty) τριῶν (three); καὶ (although) τοσούτων (so many) ὄντων (there are), οὐκ (not) ἐσχίσθη (was torn) τὸ (the) δίκτυον (net).
12Λέγει (Says) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Δεῦτε (Come), ἀριστήσατε (have breakfast).” οὐδεὶς (None) ‹δὲ› (however) ἐτόλμα (dared) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples) ἐξετάσαι (to ask) αὐτόν (Him), “Σὺ (You) τίς (who) εἶ (are)?” εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Κύριός (Lord) ἐστιν (it is).
13ἔρχεται (Comes) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) λαμβάνει (takes) τὸν (the) ἄρτον (bread) καὶ (and) δίδωσιν (gives it) αὐτοῖς (to them), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὀψάριον (fish) ὁμοίως (likewise).
14Τοῦτο (This is) ἤδη (now) τρίτον (the third time) ἐφανερώθη (was revealed) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοῖς (to the) μαθηταῖς (disciples), ἐγερθεὶς (having been raised) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead).

15Ὅτε (When) οὖν (therefore) ἠρίστησαν (they had dined), λέγει (says) τῷ (-) Σίμωνι (to Simon) Πέτρῳ (Peter) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Σίμων (Simon) Ἰωάννου (son of John), ἀγαπᾷς (love you) με (Me) πλέον (more) τούτων (than these)?”
Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ναί (Yes), Κύριε (Lord); σὺ (You) οἶδας (know) ὅτι (that) φιλῶ (I dearly love) σε (You).”
Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Βόσκε (Feed) τὰ (the) ἀρνία (lambs) μου (of Me).”
16Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him) πάλιν (again) δεύτερον (a second time), “Σίμων (Simon) Ἰωάννου (son of John), ἀγαπᾷς (love you) με (Me)?”
Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ναί (Yes), Κύριε (Lord); σὺ (You) οἶδας (know) ὅτι (that) φιλῶ (I dearly love) σε (You).”
Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ποίμαινε (Shepherd) τὰ (the) πρόβατά (sheep) μου (of Me).”
17Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him) τὸ (the) τρίτον (third time), “Σίμων (Simon) Ἰωάννου (son of John), φιλεῖς (do you dearly love) με (Me)?”
Ἐλυπήθη (Was grieved) ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) ὅτι (because) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῷ (to him) τὸ (the) τρίτον (third time), “Φιλεῖς (Do you dearly love) με (Me)?”
Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (he said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Κύριε (Lord), πάντα (all things) σὺ (You) οἶδας (know); σὺ (You) γινώσκεις (know) ὅτι (that) φιλῶ (I dearly love) σε (You).”
Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Βόσκε (Feed) τὰ (the) πρόβατά (sheep) μου (of Me).
18Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) σοι (to you), ὅτε (When) ἦς (you were) νεώτερος (younger), ἐζώννυες (you dressed) σεαυτὸν (yourself) καὶ (and) περιεπάτεις (walked) ὅπου (where) ἤθελες (you desired); ὅταν (when) δὲ (however) γηράσῃς (you shall be old), ἐκτενεῖς (you will stretch forth) τὰς (the) χεῖράς (hands) σου (of you), καὶ (and) ἄλλος (another) ζώσει (will dress) ⇔ σε (you) καὶ (and) οἴσει (will bring you) ὅπου (where) οὐ (not) θέλεις (you do desire).”
19τοῦτο (This) δὲ (now) εἶπεν (He said) σημαίνων (signifying) ποίῳ (by what) θανάτῳ (death) δοξάσει (he will glorify) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God).
Καὶ (And) τοῦτο (this) εἰπὼν (having said), λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἀκολούθει (Follow) μοι (Me).”
Jesus and the Beloved Apostle
20Ἐπιστραφεὶς (Having turned), ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) βλέπει (sees) τὸν (the) μαθητὴν (disciple) ὃν (whom) ἠγάπα (loved) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἀκολουθοῦντα (following), ὃς (who) καὶ (also) ἀνέπεσεν (had reclined) ἐν (at) τῷ (the) δείπνῳ (supper) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) στῆθος (bosom) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), “Κύριε (Lord), τίς (who) ἐστιν (is it) ὁ (who) παραδιδούς (is betraying) σε (You)?”
21τοῦτον (Him) οὖν (therefore) ἰδὼν (having seen), ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) λέγει (says) τῷ (-) Ἰησοῦ (to Jesus), “Κύριε (Lord), οὗτος (this man) δὲ (and) τί (what about)?”
22Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἐὰν (If) αὐτὸν (him) θέλω (I desire) μένειν (to remain) ἕως (until) ἔρχομαι (I come), τί (what is it) πρὸς (to) σέ (you)? σύ (You) μοι (Me) ἀκολούθει (follow)!”
23ἐξῆλθεν (Went out) οὖν (therefore) οὗτος (this) ὁ (-) λόγος (saying) εἰς (among) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers), ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) μαθητὴς (disciple) ἐκεῖνος (that), οὐκ (not) ἀποθνήσκει (dies). οὐκ (Not) εἶπεν (said) δὲ (however) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ὅτι (that) οὐκ (not) ἀποθνήσκει (he dies), ἀλλ’ (but), “Ἐὰν (If) αὐτὸν (him) θέλω (I desire) μένειν (to remain) ἕως (until) ἔρχομαι (I come), τί (what is it) πρὸς (to) σέ (you)?”
24Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) μαθητὴς (disciple) ὁ (-) μαρτυρῶν (bearing witness) περὶ (concerning) τούτων (these things), καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) γράψας (having written) ταῦτα (these things), καὶ (and) οἴδαμεν (we know) ὅτι (that) ἀληθὴς (true) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἡ (the) μαρτυρία (testimony) ἐστίν (is).
25Ἔστιν (There are) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) ἄλλα (other things) πολλὰ (many) ἃ (that) ἐποίησεν (did) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ἅτινα (which) ἐὰν (if) γράφηται (they should be written) καθ’ (every) ἕν (one), οὐδ’ (not even) αὐτὸν (itself) οἶμαι (I suppose) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) χωρήσειν (to have space) τὰ (for the) γραφόμενα (to be written) βιβλία (books).
