1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I don't want you to be ignorant.

1Περὶ δὲ τῶν πνευματικῶν ἀδελφοί οὐ θέλω ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν

2You know that when you were unbelievers, you were enticed and led astray to worship idols that couldn't even speak.

2Οἴδατε ὅτι ὅτε ἔθνη ἦτε πρὸς τὰ εἴδωλα τὰ ἄφωνα ὡς ἂν ἤγεσθε ἀπαγόμενοι

3For this reason I want you to be aware that no one who is speaking by God's Spirit can say, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

3διὸ γνωρίζω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς ἐν Πνεύματι Θεοῦ λαλῶν λέγει Αναθεμα ΙΗΣΟΥΣ καὶ οὐδεὶς δύναται εἰπεῖν Κυριος ΙΗΣΟΥΣ εἰ μὴ ἐν Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ

4Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit,

4Διαιρέσεις δὲ χαρισμάτων εἰσίν τὸ δὲ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα

5and there are varieties of ministries, but the same Lord.

5καὶ διαιρέσεις διακονιῶν εἰσιν καὶ ὁ αὐτὸς Κύριος

6There are varieties of results, but it is the same God who produces all the results in everyone.

6καὶ διαιρέσεις ἐνεργημάτων εἰσίν (καὶ) ὁ δὲ αὐτὸς Θεός ὁ ἐνεργῶν τὰ πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν

7To each person has been given the ability to manifest the Spirit for the common good.

7Ἑκάστῳ δὲ δίδοται ἡ φανέρωσις τοῦ Πνεύματος πρὸς τὸ συμφέρον

8To one has been given a message of wisdom by the Spirit; to another the ability to speak with knowledge according to the same Spirit;

8ᾧ μὲν γὰρ διὰ τοῦ Πνεύματος δίδοται λόγος σοφίας ἄλλῳ δὲ λόγος γνώσεως κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα

9to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit;

9ἑτέρῳ πίστις ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ Πνεύματι ἄλλῳ δὲ χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἐν τῷ ἑνὶ Πνεύματι

10to another miraculous results; to another prophecy; to another the ability to distinguish between spirits; to another various kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages.

10ἄλλῳ δὲ ἐνεργήματα δυνάμεων ἄλλῳ δὲ προφητεία ἄλλῳ δὲ διακρίσεις πνευμάτων ἑτέρῳ γένη γλωσσῶν ἄλλῳ δὲ ἑρμηνεία γλωσσῶν

11But one and the same Spirit produces all these results and gives what he wants to each person.

11πάντα δὲ ταῦτα ἐνεργεῖ τὸ ἓν καὶ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα διαιροῦν ἰδίᾳ ἑκάστῳ καθὼς βούλεται

12For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, form a single body, so it is with the Messiah.

12Καθάπερ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα ἕν ἐστιν καὶ μέλη πολλὰ ἔχει πάντα δὲ τὰ μέλη τοῦ σώματος πολλὰ ὄντα ἕν ἐστιν σῶμα οὕτως καὶ ὁ Χριστός

13For by one Spirit all of us—Jews and Greeks, slaves and free—were baptized into one body and were all privileged to drink from one Spirit.

13καὶ γὰρ ἐν ἑνὶ Πνεύματι ἡμεῖς πάντες εἰς ἓν σῶμα ἐβαπτίσθημεν εἴτε Ἰουδαῖοι εἴτε Ἕλληνες εἴτε δοῦλοι εἴτε ἐλεύθεροι καὶ πάντες ἓν Πνεῦμα ἐποτίσθημεν

14For the body does not consist of only one part, but of many.

14Καὶ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα οὐκ ἔστιν ἓν μέλος ἀλλὰ πολλά

15If the foot says, "Since I'm not a hand, I'm not part of the body," that does not make it any less a part of the body, does it?

15ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ πούς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ χείρ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος

16And if the ear says, "Since I'm not an eye, I'm not part of the body," that does not make it any less a part of the body, does it?

16καὶ ἐὰν εἴπῃ τὸ οὖς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ ὀφθαλμός οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος

17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?

17εἰ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα ὀφθαλμός ποῦ ἡ ἀκοή εἰ ὅλον ἀκοή ποῦ ἡ ὄσφρησις

18But now God has arranged the parts, every one of them, in the body according to his plan.

18Νυνὶ* δὲ ὁ Θεὸς ἔθετο τὰ μέλη ἓν ἕκαστον αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ σώματι καθὼς ἠθέλησεν

19Now if all of it were one part, there wouldn't be a body, would there?

19εἰ δὲ ἦν τὰ πάντα ἓν μέλος ποῦ τὸ σῶμα

20So there are many parts, but one body.

20νῦν δὲ πολλὰ μὲν μέλη ἓν δὲ σῶμα

21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you," or the head to the feet, "I don't need you."

21Οὐ δύναται δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμὸς εἰπεῖν τῇ χειρί Χρείαν σου οὐκ ἔχω ἢ πάλιν ἡ κεφαλὴ τοῖς ποσίν Χρείαν ὑμῶν οὐκ ἔχω

22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are in fact indispensable,

22ἀλλὰ πολλῷ μᾶλλον τὰ δοκοῦντα μέλη τοῦ σώματος ἀσθενέστερα ὑπάρχειν ἀναγκαῖά ἐστιν

23and the parts of the body that we think are less honorable are treated with special honor, and we make our less attractive parts more attractive.

23καὶ ἃ δοκοῦμεν ἀτιμότερα εἶναι τοῦ σώματος τούτοις τιμὴν περισσοτέραν περιτίθεμεν καὶ τὰ ἀσχήμονα ἡμῶν εὐσχημοσύνην περισσοτέραν ἔχει

24However, our attractive parts don't need this. But God has put the body together and has given special honor to the parts that lack it,

24τὰ δὲ εὐσχήμονα ἡμῶν οὐ χρείαν ἔχει Ἀλλὰ ὁ θεὸς συνεκέρασεν τὸ σῶμα τῷ ὑστερουμένῳ περισσοτέραν δοὺς τιμήν

25so that there might be no disharmony in the body, but that its parts should have the same concern for each other.

25ἵνα μὴ ᾖ σχίσμα ἐν τῷ σώματι ἀλλὰ τὸ αὐτὸ ὑπὲρ ἀλλήλων μεριμνῶσιν τὰ μέλη

26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is praised, every part rejoices with it.

26καὶ εἴτε πάσχει ἓν μέλος συμπάσχει πάντα τὰ μέλη εἴτε δοξάζεται [ἓν] μέλος συνχαίρει πάντα τὰ μέλη

27Now you are the Messiah's body and individual parts of it.

27Ὑμεῖς δέ ἐστε σῶμα Χριστοῦ καὶ μέλη ἐκ μέρους

28God has appointed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then those who perform miracles, those who have gifts of healing, those who help others, administrators, and those who speak various kinds of languages.

28Καὶ οὓς μὲν ἔθετο ὁ Θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ πρῶτον ἀποστόλους δεύτερον προφήτας τρίτον διδασκάλους ἔπειτα δυνάμεις ἔπειτα χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἀντιλήμψεις κυβερνήσεις γένη γλωσσῶν

29Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all perform miracles, do they?

29μὴ πάντες ἀπόστολοι μὴ πάντες προφῆται μὴ πάντες διδάσκαλοι μὴ πάντες δυνάμεις

30Not all have the gift of healing, do they? Not all speak in foreign languages, do they? Not all interpret, do they?

30μὴ πάντες χαρίσματα ἔχουσιν ἰαμάτων μὴ πάντες γλώσσαις λαλοῦσιν μὴ πάντες διερμηνεύουσιν

31Keep on desiring the better gifts. And now I will show you the best way of all.

31ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ χαρίσματα τὰ μείζονα Καὶ ἔτι καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῖν δείκνυμι
