King James Bible | New Living Translation |
I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: | 1I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church in Cenchrea. |
That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. | 2Welcome her in the Lord as one who is worthy of honor among God’s people. Help her in whatever she needs, for she has been helpful to many, and especially to me. |
Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: | 3Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in the ministry of Christ Jesus. |
Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. | 4In fact, they once risked their lives for me. I am thankful to them, and so are all the Gentile churches. |
Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ. | 5Also give my greetings to the church that meets in their home. Greet my dear friend Epenetus. He was the first person from the province of Asia to become a follower of Christ. |
Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us. | 6Give my greetings to Mary, who has worked so hard for your benefit. |
Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellowprisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me. | 7Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews, who were in prison with me. They are highly respected among the apostles and became followers of Christ before I did. |
Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord. | 8Greet Ampliatus, my dear friend in the Lord. |
Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved. | 9Greet Urbanus, our co-worker in Christ, and my dear friend Stachys. |
Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household. | 10Greet Apelles, a good man whom Christ approves. And give my greetings to the believers from the household of Aristobulus. |
Salute Herodion my kinsman. Greet them that be of the household of Narcissus, which are in the Lord. | 11Greet Herodion, my fellow Jew. Greet the Lord’s people from the household of Narcissus. |
Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, which laboured much in the Lord. | 12Give my greetings to Tryphena and Tryphosa, the Lord’s workers, and to dear Persis, who has worked so hard for the Lord. |
Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine. | 13Greet Rufus, whom the Lord picked out to be his very own; and also his dear mother, who has been a mother to me. |
Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them. | 14Give my greetings to Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters who meet with them. |
Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them. | 15Give my greetings to Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and to Olympas and all the believers who meet with them. |
Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. | 16Greet each other with a sacred kiss. All the churches of Christ send you their greetings. Paul’s Final Instructions |
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. | 17And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them. |
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. | 18Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By smooth talk and glowing words they deceive innocent people. |
For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. | 19But everyone knows that you are obedient to the Lord. This makes me very happy. I want you to be wise in doing right and to stay innocent of any wrong. |
And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. | 20The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. |
Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you. | 21Timothy, my fellow worker, sends you his greetings, as do Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my fellow Jews. |
I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord. | 22I, Tertius, the one writing this letter for Paul, send my greetings, too, as one of the Lord’s followers. |
Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother. | 23Gaius says hello to you. He is my host and also serves as host to the whole church. Erastus, the city treasurer, sends you his greetings, and so does our brother Quartus. |
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. | 24 |
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, | 25Now all glory to God, who is able to make you strong, just as my Good News says. This message about Jesus Christ has revealed his plan for you Gentiles, a plan kept secret from the beginning of time. |
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: | 26But now as the prophets foretold and as the eternal God has commanded, this message is made known to all Gentiles everywhere, so that they too might believe and obey him. |
To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. | 27All glory to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, forever. Amen. |
