| 19The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. | 20Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. | 27Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question. | 27There came to him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, |
| 28"Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. | 28and they asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. |

| 36and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection. | 36for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. |
| 37But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' | 37But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. |

| 46"Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. | 46“Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, |
