Romans 15
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
But we who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not just please ourselves.1We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Let each of us please his neighbor for his good to build him up.2Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
For even Christ did not please himself, but just as it is written, "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."3For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”
For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope.4For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Now may the God of endurance and comfort give you unity with one another in accordance with Christ Jesus,5May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 6that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Receive one another, then, just as Christ also received you, to God's glory.7Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God's truth to confirm the promises made to the fathers,8For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs,
and thus the Gentiles glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, "Because of this I will confess you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praises to your name."9and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, “Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name.”
And again it says: "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people."10And again it is said, “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.”
And again, "Praise the Lord all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples praise him."11And again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples extol him.”
And again Isaiah says, "The root of Jesse will come, and the one who rises to rule over the Gentiles, in him will the Gentiles hope."12And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.”
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. 13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
But I myself am fully convinced about you, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.14I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.
But I have written more boldly to you on some points so as to remind you, because of the grace given to me by God15But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God
to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. I serve the gospel of God like a priest, so that the Gentiles may become an acceptable offering, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 16to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
So I boast in Christ Jesus about the things that pertain to God.17In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God.
For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in order to bring about the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,18For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed,
in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem even as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.19by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ;
And in this way I desire to preach where Christ has not been named, so as not to build on another person's foundation,20and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation,
but as it is written: "Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand." 21but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”
This is the reason I was often hindered from coming to you.22This is the reason why I have so often been hindered from coming to you.
But now there is nothing more to keep me in these regions, and I have for many years desired to come to you23But now, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you,
when I go to Spain. For I hope to visit you when I pass through and that you will help me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while. 24I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while.
But now I go to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.25At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem bringing aid to the saints.
For Macedonia and Achaia are pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.26For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem.
For they were pleased to do this, and indeed they are indebted to the Jerusalem saints. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are obligated also to minister to them in material things.27For they were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings.
Therefore after I have completed this and have safely delivered this bounty to them, I will set out for Spain by way of you,28When therefore I have completed this and have delivered to them what has been collected, I will leave for Spain by way of you.
and I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of Christ's blessing. 29I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.
Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit, to join fervently with me in prayer to God on my behalf.30I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf,
Pray that I may be rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea and that my ministry in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints,31that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints,
so that by God's will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.32so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.
Now may the God of peace be with all of you. Amen. 33May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
