All the ships of the sea and their sailors came alongside to trade for your wares. |
| 10“Persia and Lud and Put were in your army as your men of war. They hung the shield and helmet in you; they gave you splendor. | 10"'Men of Persia, Lydia and Put served as soldiers in your army. They hung their shields and helmets on your walls, bringing you splendor. |
| 11Men of Arvad and Helech were on your walls all around, and men of Gamad were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all around; they made perfect your beauty. | 11Men of Arvad and Helek guarded your walls on every side; men of Gammad were in your towers. They hung their shields around your walls; they brought your beauty to perfection. |
| 12“Tarshish did business with you because of your great wealth of every kind; silver, iron, tin, and lead they exchanged for your wares. | 12"'Tarshish did business with you because of your great wealth of goods; they exchanged silver, iron, tin and lead for your merchandise. |
| 13Javan, Tubal, and Meshech traded with you; they exchanged human beings and vessels of bronze for your merchandise. | 13"'Greece, Tubal and Meshek did business with you; they traded human beings and articles of bronze for your wares. |
| 14From Beth-togarmah they exchanged horses, war horses, and mules for your wares. | 14"'Men of Beth Togarmah exchanged chariot horses, cavalry horses and mules for your merchandise. |
| 15The men of Dedan traded with you. Many coastlands were your own special markets; they brought you in payment ivory tusks and ebony. | 15"'The men of Rhodes traded with you, and many coastlands were your customers; they paid you with ivory tusks and ebony. |
| 16Syria did business with you because of your abundant goods; they exchanged for your wares emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral, and ruby. | 16"'Aram did business with you because of your many products; they exchanged turquoise, purple fabric, embroidered work, fine linen, coral and rubies for your merchandise. |
| 17Judah and the land of Israel traded with you; they exchanged for your merchandise wheat of Minnith, meal, honey, oil, and balm. | 17"'Judah and Israel traded with you; they exchanged wheat from Minnith and confections, honey, olive oil and balm for your wares. |
| 18Damascus did business with you for your abundant goods, because of your great wealth of every kind; wine of Helbon and wool of Sahar | 18"'Damascus did business with you because of your many products and great wealth of goods. They offered wine from Helbon, wool from Zahar |
| 19and casks of wine from Uzal they exchanged for your wares; wrought iron, cassia, and calamus were bartered for your merchandise. | 19and casks of wine from Izal in exchange for your wares: wrought iron, cassia and calamus. |
| 20Dedan traded with you in saddlecloths for riding. | 20"'Dedan traded in saddle blankets with you. |
| 21Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your favored dealers in lambs, rams, and goats; in these they did business with you. | 21"'Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your customers; they did business with you in lambs, rams and goats. |
| 22The traders of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; they exchanged for your wares the best of all kinds of spices and all precious stones and gold. | 22"'The merchants of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; for your merchandise they exchanged the finest of all kinds of spices and precious stones, and gold. |
| 23Haran, Canneh, Eden, traders of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad traded with you. | 23"'Harran, Kanneh and Eden and merchants of Sheba, Ashur and Kilmad traded with you. |
| 24In your market these traded with you in choice garments, in clothes of blue and embroidered work, and in carpets of colored material, bound with cords and made secure. | 24In your marketplace they traded with you beautiful garments, blue fabric, embroidered work and multicolored rugs with cords twisted and tightly knotted. |
| 25The ships of Tarshish traveled for you with your merchandise. So you were filled and heavily laden in the heart of the seas. | 25"'The ships of Tarshish serve as carriers for your wares. You are filled with heavy cargo as you sail the sea. |
| 26“Your rowers have brought you out into the high seas. The east wind has wrecked you in the heart of the seas. | 26Your oarsmen take you out to the high seas. But the east wind will break you to pieces far out at sea. |
| 27Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, with all your crew that is in your midst, sink into the heart of the seas on the day of your fall. | 27Your wealth, merchandise and wares, your mariners, sailors and shipwrights, your merchants and all your soldiers, and everyone else on board will sink into the heart of the sea on the day of your shipwreck. |
| 28At the sound of the cry of your pilots the countryside shakes, | 28The shorelands will quake when your sailors cry out. |
| 29and down from their ships come all who handle the oar. The mariners and all the pilots of the sea stand on the land | 29All who handle the oars will abandon their ships; the mariners and all the sailors will stand on the shore. |
| 30and shout aloud over you and cry out bitterly. They cast dust on their heads and wallow in ashes; | 30They will raise their voice and cry bitterly over you; they will sprinkle dust on their heads and roll in ashes. |
| 31they make themselves bald for you and put sackcloth on their waist, and they weep over you in bitterness of soul, with bitter mourning. | 31They will shave their heads because of you and will put on sackcloth. They will weep over you with anguish of soul and with bitter mourning. |
| 32In their wailing they raise a lamentation for you and lament over you: ‘Who is like Tyre, like one destroyed in the midst of the sea? | 32As they wail and mourn over you, they will take up a lament concerning you: "Who was ever silenced like Tyre, surrounded by the sea?" |
| 33When your wares came from the seas, you satisfied many peoples; with your abundant wealth and merchandise you enriched the kings of the earth. | 33When your merchandise went out on the seas, you satisfied many nations; with your great wealth and your wares you enriched the kings of the earth. |
| 34Now you are wrecked by the seas, in the depths of the waters; your merchandise and all your crew in your midst have sunk with you. | 34Now you are shattered by the sea in the depths of the waters; your wares and all your company have gone down with you. |
| 35All the inhabitants of the coastlands are appalled at you, and the hair of their kings bristles with horror; their faces are convulsed. | 35All who live in the coastlands are appalled at you; their kings shudder with horror and their faces are distorted with fear. |
| 36The merchants among the peoples hiss at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever.’” | 36The merchants among the nations scoff at you; you have come to a horrible end and will be no more.'" |
