‘Sir,’ the servant replied
In this passage, the servant addresses his master with respect, indicating a hierarchical relationship. The term "Sir" reflects the servant's acknowledgment of authority, which is a common cultural practice in ancient Near Eastern societies. This relationship can be seen as a reflection of the believer's relationship with God, where God is the ultimate authority and believers are His servants. The servant's role is crucial in the parable, symbolizing those who carry out God's will on earth.

‘what you ordered has been done’
This phrase indicates obedience and fulfillment of the master's command. In the context of the parable, the master represents God, and the servant's actions reflect the faithful execution of God's will. This obedience is a central theme in Christian teachings, emphasizing the importance of following God's commandments. The phrase also suggests the completion of a task, which in the broader narrative of the parable, refers to the invitation extended to the initial guests. This can be connected to the broader biblical theme of God's invitation to His people, as seen in the Old Testament with Israel and in the New Testament with the call to salvation through Christ.

and there is still room.
This part of the verse highlights the abundance and inclusivity of God's kingdom. Despite the initial invitation being fulfilled, there is still space available, symbolizing the boundless grace and mercy of God. This can be linked to the idea that God's invitation to salvation is open to all, not limited by ethnicity, social status, or past actions. Theologically, it underscores the concept of the "whosoever will" in John 3:16, where God's love and salvation are available to anyone who believes. The imagery of "room" also connects to the eschatological promise of eternal life, where there is ample space in God's heavenly kingdom for all who accept His invitation.

Persons / Places / Events
1. The Master
Represents God, who is hosting the great banquet and desires for His house to be filled.

2. The Servant
Symbolizes the messengers of God, such as prophets, apostles, and modern-day believers, who are tasked with inviting people to God's kingdom.

3. The Banquet
A metaphor for the Kingdom of God, illustrating the abundance and inclusivity of God's invitation to salvation.

4. The Invited Guests
Initially, these were the Jewish people, God's chosen ones, who were first invited to the Kingdom.

5. The Remaining Room
Indicates the openness and expansiveness of God's grace, showing that there is still opportunity for others to enter the Kingdom.
Teaching Points
God's Invitation is Open to All
The parable teaches that God's invitation to His Kingdom is not limited to a specific group but is extended to all who will accept it.

Urgency in Evangelism
Just as the servant was tasked with inviting more guests, believers today are called to actively share the Gospel, knowing there is still room in God's Kingdom.

The Abundance of God's Grace
The fact that there is "still room" highlights the limitless nature of God's grace and mercy, encouraging believers to trust in His provision.

Rejection and Acceptance
The initial rejection by some invitees serves as a warning against complacency and a reminder to respond to God's call with urgency and sincerity.

Inclusivity of the Gospel
The parable underscores the inclusivity of the Gospel message, breaking down barriers and inviting people from all walks of life to partake in God's Kingdom.(22) It is done as thou hast commanded.--Literally, What thou didst command is come to pass.

Verse 22. - And the servant maid, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. While these words are necessary to complete the picture, still in them we have a hint of the vast size of the kingdom of God. The realms of the blessed are practically boundless. Here, again, in the first instance, there was a Jewish instruction intended to correct the false current notion that that kingdom was narrow in extent, and intended to be confined to the chosen race of Israel. It is very different in the Lord's picture.
