| 14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. | 14But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: "Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words. |
| 15These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! | 15"For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day; |
| 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: | 16but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: |
| 17"'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. | 17'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS; |
| 18Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. | 18EVEN ON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT And they shall prophesy. |
| 19I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. | 19'AND I WILL GRANT WONDERS IN THE SKY ABOVE AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW, BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE. |
| 20The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. | 20'THE SUN WILL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD, BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME. |

| 22"Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. | 22"Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know-- |
| 23This man was handed over to you by God's deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. | 23this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. |
| 24But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. | 24"But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power. |
| 25David said about him: "'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. | 25"For David says of Him, 'I SAW THE LORD ALWAYS IN MY PRESENCE; FOR HE IS AT MY RIGHT HAND, SO THAT I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN. |
| 26Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, | 26'THEREFORE MY HEART WAS GLAD AND MY TONGUE EXULTED; MOREOVER MY FLESH ALSO WILL LIVE IN HOPE; |
| 27because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. | 27BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT ABANDON MY SOUL TO HADES, NOR ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY. |
| 28You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.' | 28'YOU HAVE MADE KNOWN TO ME THE WAYS OF LIFE; YOU WILL MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE.' |
| 29"Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. | 29"Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. |
| 30But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. | 30"And so, because he was a prophet and knew that GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS ON HIS THRONE, |
| 31Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. | 31he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that HE WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His flesh SUFFER DECAY. |
| 32God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. | 32"This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. |
| 33Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. | 33"Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. |

| 37When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" | 37Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?" |
| 38Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. | 41Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. | 41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. |

| 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, | 46Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, |
| 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. | 47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. |
