| 1Now some men came down from Judea and began to teach the brothers, "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved." | 1While Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch of Syria, some men from Judea arrived and began to teach the believers : “Unless you are circumcised as required by the law of Moses, you cannot be saved.” |
| 2When Paul and Barnabas had a major argument and debate with them, the church appointed Paul and Barnabas and some others from among them to go up to meet with the apostles and elders in Jerusalem about this point of disagreement. | 2Paul and Barnabas disagreed with them, arguing vehemently. Finally, the church decided to send Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem, accompanied by some local believers, to talk to the apostles and elders about this question. |
| 3So they were sent on their way by the church, and as they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, they were relating at length the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers. | 3The church sent the delegates to Jerusalem, and they stopped along the way in Phoenicia and Samaria to visit the believers. | 22Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to send men chosen from among them, Judas called Barsabbas and Silas, leaders among the brothers, to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. | 22Then the apostles and elders together with the whole church in Jerusalem chose delegates, and they sent them to Antioch of Syria with Paul and Barnabas to report on this decision. | 24Since we have heard that some have gone out from among us with no orders from us and have confused you, upsetting your minds by what they said, | 24“We understand that some men from here have troubled you and upset you with their teaching, but we did not send them! |
| 25we have unanimously decided to choose men to send to you along with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul, | 25So we decided, having come to complete agreement, to send you official representatives, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, |

| 30So when they were dismissed, they went down to Antioch, and after gathering the entire group together, they delivered the letter. | 30The messengers went at once to Antioch, where they called a general meeting of the believers and delivered the letter. |
| 31When they read it aloud, the people rejoiced at its encouragement. | 31And there was great joy throughout the church that day as they read this encouraging message. |
| 32Both Judas and Silas, who were prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with a long speech. | 32Then Judas and Silas, both being prophets, spoke at length to the believers, encouraging and strengthening their faith. |

| 40but Paul chose Silas and set out, commended to the grace of the Lord by the brothers and sisters. | 40Paul chose Silas, and as he left, the believers entrusted him to the Lord’s gracious care. |
