God comforts her by promises of confusion to her enemies; 18. and by his mercies. Woe is me! The phrase "Woe is me!" is a lamentation, expressing deep sorrow and distress. In Hebrew, the word "woe" is "אוֹי" (oy), a cry of grief or despair. This expression is often used by prophets to convey the gravity of a situation or the impending judgment of God. It reflects Micah's profound anguish over the moral and spiritual decay of Israel. Historically, prophets used such expressions to awaken the people to their dire state and the need for repentance.
