Psalm 106
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.1Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Who can list the glorious miracles of the LORD? Who can ever praise him enough?2Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
There is joy for those who deal justly with others and always do what is right.3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people; come near and rescue me.4Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
Let me share in the prosperity of your chosen ones. Let me rejoice in the joy of your people; let me praise you with those who are your heritage.5That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
Like our ancestors, we have sinned. We have done wrong! We have acted wickedly!6We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
Our ancestors in Egypt were not impressed by the LORD’s miraculous deeds. They soon forgot his many acts of kindness to them. Instead, they rebelled against him at the Red Sea.7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
Even so, he saved them— to defend the honor of his name and to demonstrate his mighty power.8Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
He commanded the Red Sea to dry up. He led Israel across the sea as if it were a desert.9He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
So he rescued them from their enemies and redeemed them from their foes.10And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
Then the water returned and covered their enemies; not one of them survived.11And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
Then his people believed his promises. Then they sang his praise.12Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done! They wouldn’t wait for his counsel!13They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland.14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
So he gave them what they asked for, but he sent a plague along with it.15And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
The people in the camp were jealous of Moses and envious of Aaron, the LORD’s holy priest.16They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
Because of this, the earth opened up; it swallowed Dathan and buried Abiram and the other rebels.17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Fire fell upon their followers; a flame consumed the wicked.18And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
The people made a calf at Mount Sinai ; they bowed before an image made of gold.19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
They traded their glorious God for a statue of a grass-eating bull.20Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
They forgot God, their savior, who had done such great things in Egypt—21They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
such wonderful things in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Red Sea.22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
So he declared he would destroy them. But Moses, his chosen one, stepped between the LORD and the people. He begged him to turn from his anger and not destroy them.23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them.24Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the LORD.25But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
Therefore, he solemnly swore that he would kill them in the wilderness,26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
that he would scatter their descendants among the nations, exiling them to distant lands.27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
Then our ancestors joined in the worship of Baal at Peor; they even ate sacrifices offered to the dead!28They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
They angered the LORD with all these things, so a plague broke out among them.29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
But Phinehas had the courage to intervene, and the plague was stopped.30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
So he has been regarded as a righteous man ever since that time.31And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
At Meribah, too, they angered the LORD, causing Moses serious trouble.32They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
They made Moses angry, and he spoke foolishly.33Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
Israel failed to destroy the nations in the land, as the LORD had commanded them.34They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
Instead, they mingled among the pagans and adopted their evil customs.35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
They worshiped their idols, which led to their downfall.36And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons.37Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters. By sacrificing them to the idols of Canaan, they polluted the land with murder.38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
They defiled themselves by their evil deeds, and their love of idols was adultery in the LORD’s sight.39Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
That is why the LORD’s anger burned against his people, and he abhorred his own special possession.40Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
He handed them over to pagan nations, and they were ruled by those who hated them.41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
Their enemies crushed them and brought them under their cruel power.42Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
Again and again he rescued them, but they chose to rebel against him, and they were finally destroyed by their sin.43Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
Even so, he pitied them in their distress and listened to their cries.44Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
He remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his unfailing love.45And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
He even caused their captors to treat them with kindness.46He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
Save us, O LORD our God! Gather us back from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you.47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
Praise the LORD, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting! Let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the LORD!48Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
