Psalm 90
NKJV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionChristian Standard Bible
A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.1Lord, you have been our refuge in every generation.
Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.2Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God.
You turn man to destruction, And say, “Return, O children of men.”3You return mankind to the dust, saying, "Return, descendants of Adam."
For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night.4For in your sight a thousand years are like yesterday that passes by, like a few hours of the night.
You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up:5You end their lives; they sleep. They are like grass that grows in the morning--
In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers.6in the morning it sprouts and grows; by evening it withers and dries up.
For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified.7For we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.
You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.8You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.
For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh.9For all our days ebb away under your wrath; we end our years like a sigh.
The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.10Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away.
Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.11Who understands the power of your anger? Your wrath matches the fear that is due you.
So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.12Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.
Return, O LORD! How long? And have compassion on Your servants.13LORD--how long? Turn and have compassion on your servants.
Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!14Satisfy us in the morning with your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days.
Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil.15Make us rejoice for as many days as you have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity.
Let Your work appear to Your servants, And Your glory to their children.16Let your work be seen by your servants, and your splendor by their children.
And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.17Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands--establish the work of our hands!
