New King James Version | Christian Standard Bible |
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. | 1The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty. |
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” | 2I will say concerning the LORD, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust: |
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. | 3He himself will rescue you from the bird trap, from the destructive plague. |
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. | 4He will cover you with his feathers; you will take refuge under his wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield. |
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, | 5You will not fear the terror of the night, the arrow that flies by day, |
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. | 6the plague that stalks in darkness, or the pestilence that ravages at noon. |
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. | 7Though a thousand fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, the pestilence will not reach you. |
Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. | 8You will only see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked. |
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, | 9Because you have made the LORD--my refuge, the Most High--your dwelling place, |
No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; | 10no harm will come to you; no plague will come near your tent. |
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. | 11For he will give his angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways. |
In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. | 12They will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. |
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. | 13You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the young lion and the serpent. |
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. | 14Because he has his heart set on me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. |
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. | 15When he calls out to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor. |
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” | 16I will satisfy him with a long life and show him my salvation. |
