New King James Version | New Living Translation |
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. | 1Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. |
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” | 2This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. |
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. | 3For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. |
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. | 4He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. |
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, | 5Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. |
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. | 6Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. |
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. | 7Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. |
Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. | 8Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. |
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, | 9If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, |
No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; | 10no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. |
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. | 11For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. |
In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. | 12They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. |
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. | 13You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! |
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. | 14The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. |
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. | 15When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. |
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” | 16I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” |
