New King James Version | New Living Translation |
A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; | 1It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. |
To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, | 2It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, |
On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound. | 3accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. |
For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands. | 4You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. |
O LORD, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. | 5O LORD, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. |
A senseless man does not know, Nor does a fool understand this. | 6Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: |
When the wicked spring up like grass, And when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever. | 7Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. |
But You, LORD, are on high forevermore. | 8But you, O LORD, will be exalted forever. |
For behold, Your enemies, O LORD, For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. | 9Your enemies, LORD, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered. |
But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil. | 10But you have made me as strong as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the finest oil. |
My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; My ears hear my desire on the wicked Who rise up against me. | 11My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. |
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | 12But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. |
Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. | 13For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. |
They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, | 14Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. |
To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. | 15They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” |
