New King James Version | NET Bible |
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. | 1As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king-- |
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” | 2I say this about the LORD, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust-- |
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. | 3he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the destructive plague. |
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. | 4He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall. |
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, | 5You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day, |
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. | 6the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon. |
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. | 7Though a thousand may fall beside you, and a multitude on your right side, it will not reach you. |
Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. | 8Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes--you will see the wicked paid back. |
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, | 9For you have taken refuge in the LORD, my shelter, the sovereign One. |
No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; | 10No harm will overtake you; no illness will come near your home. |
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. | 11For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do. |
In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. | 12They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. |
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. | 13You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent. |
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. | 14The LORD says, "Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me. |
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. | 15When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. |
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” | 16I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation. |
