| 2Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. | 2Do not neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it. |
| 3Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body. | 3Remember those in prison as though you were in prison with them, and those ill-treated as though you too felt their torment. |
| 4Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. | 4Marriage must be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers. |
| 5Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," | 5Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you and I will never abandon you." |
| 6so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?" | 6So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" |
| 7Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. | 7Remember your leaders, who spoke God's message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith. |
