1Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed,1Πρεσβυτέρους [τοὺς] ἐν ὑμῖν παρακαλῶ ὁ συμπρεσβύτερος καὶ μάρτυς τῶν τοῦ Χριστοῦ παθημάτων ὁ καὶ τῆς μελλούσης ἀποκαλύπτεσθαι δόξης κοινωνός
2shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;2ποιμάνατε τὸ ἐν ὑμῖν ποίμνιον τοῦ Θεοῦ ‹ἐπισκοποῦντες› μὴ ἀναγκαστῶς ἀλλὰ ἑκουσίως κατὰ Θεόν μηδὲ αἰσχροκερδῶς ἀλλὰ προθύμως
3nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.3μηδ’ ὡς κατακυριεύοντες τῶν κλήρων ἀλλὰ τύποι γινόμενοι τοῦ ποιμνίου
4And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.4καὶ φανερωθέντος τοῦ Ἀρχιποίμενος κομιεῖσθε τὸν ἀμαράντινον τῆς δόξης στέφανον
5You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.5Ὁμοίως νεώτεροι ὑποτάγητε πρεσβυτέροις πάντες δὲ ἀλλήλοις τὴν ταπεινοφροσύνην ἐγκομβώσασθε ὅτι Ὁ Θεὸς ὑπερηφάνοις ἀντιτάσσεται ταπεινοῖς δὲ δίδωσιν χάριν
6Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,6Ταπεινώθητε οὖν ὑπὸ τὴν κραταιὰν χεῖρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἵνα ὑμᾶς ὑψώσῃ ἐν καιρῷ
7casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.7πᾶσαν τὴν μέριμναν ὑμῶν ἐπιρίψαντες ἐπ’ αὐτόν ὅτι αὐτῷ μέλει περὶ ὑμῶν
8Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.8Νήψατε γρηγορήσατε ὁ ἀντίδικος ὑμῶν διάβολος ὡς λέων ὠρυόμενος περιπατεῖ ζητῶν τινα καταπιεῖν
9But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.9ᾧ ἀντίστητε στερεοὶ τῇ πίστει εἰδότες τὰ αὐτὰ τῶν παθημάτων τῇ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ὑμῶν ἀδελφότητι ἐπιτελεῖσθαι
10After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.10Ὁ δὲ Θεὸς πάσης χάριτος ὁ καλέσας ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν αἰώνιον αὐτοῦ δόξαν ἐν Χριστῷ [Ἰησοῦ] ὀλίγον παθόντας αὐτὸς καταρτίσει στηρίξει σθενώσει θεμελιώσει
11To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.11αὐτῷ τὸ κράτος εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων ἀμήν
12Through Silvanus, our faithful brother (for so I regard him), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!12Διὰ Σιλουανοῦ ὑμῖν τοῦ πιστοῦ ἀδελφοῦ ὡς λογίζομαι δι’ ὀλίγων ἔγραψα παρακαλῶν καὶ ἐπιμαρτυρῶν ταύτην εἶναι ἀληθῆ χάριν τοῦ Θεοῦ εἰς ἣν στῆτε
13She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son, Mark.13Ἀσπάζεται ὑμᾶς ἡ ἐν Βαβυλῶνι συνεκλεκτὴ καὶ Μάρκος ὁ υἱός μου
14Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be to you all who are in Christ.14Ἀσπάσασθε ἀλλήλους ἐν φιλήματι ἀγάπης Εἰρήνη ὑμῖν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν Χριστῷ ⧼Ἀμήν⧽
