1My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far from my deliverance and from my words of groaning?

1For the director of music. To the tune of "The Doe of the Morning." A psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?

2My God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, by night, yet I have no rest.

3But you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.

3Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.

4Our fathers trusted in you; they trusted, and you rescued them.
