| 23But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed. | 23But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. |
| 24So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested. | 24So Pilate decided to grant their demand. |

| 38And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. | 38There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews. |
| 39Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” | 39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!" |
| 40But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? | 40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? |
| 41And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” | 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." |
