1Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

1הֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה כִּי־ ט֑וֹב כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

2Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,

2יֹ֭אמְרוּ גְּאוּלֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר גְּ֝אָלָ֗ם מִיַּד־ צָֽר׃

3And gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.

3וּֽמֵאֲרָצ֗וֹת קִ֫בְּצָ֥ם מִמִּזְרָ֥ח וּמִֽמַּעֲרָ֑ב מִצָּפ֥וֹן וּמִיָּֽם׃

4They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in.

4תָּע֣וּ בַ֭מִּדְבָּר בִּישִׁימ֣וֹן דָּ֑רֶךְ עִ֥יר מ֝וֹשָׁ֗ב לֹ֣א מָצָֽאוּ׃

5Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them.

5רְעֵבִ֥ים גַּם־ צְמֵאִ֑ים נַ֝פְשָׁ֗ם בָּהֶ֥ם תִּתְעַטָּֽף׃

6Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses.

6וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה בַּצַּ֣ר לָהֶ֑ם מִ֝מְּצֽוּקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם יַצִּילֵֽם׃

7And He led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city for a dwelling place.

7וַ֭יַּֽדְרִיכֵם בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ יְשָׁרָ֑ה לָ֝לֶ֗כֶת אֶל־ עִ֥יר מוֹשָֽׁב׃

8Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

8יוֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה חַסְדּ֑וֹ וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו לִבְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

9For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

9כִּי־ הִ֭שְׂבִּיעַ נֶ֣פֶשׁ שֹׁקֵקָ֑ה וְנֶ֥פֶשׁ רְ֝עֵבָה מִלֵּא־ טֽוֹב׃

10Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, Bound in affliction and irons—

10יֹ֭שְׁבֵי חֹ֣שֶׁךְ וְצַלְמָ֑וֶת אֲסִירֵ֖י עֳנִ֣י וּבַרְזֶֽל׃

11Because they rebelled against the words of God, And despised the counsel of the Most High,

11כִּֽי־ הִמְר֥וּ אִמְרֵי־ אֵ֑ל וַעֲצַ֖ת עֶלְי֣וֹן נָאָֽצוּ׃

12Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; They fell down, and there was none to help.

12וַיַּכְנַ֣ע בֶּעָמָ֣ל לִבָּ֑ם כָּ֝שְׁל֗וּ וְאֵ֣ין עֹזֵֽר׃

13Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses.

13וַיִּזְעֲק֣וּ אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה בַּצַּ֣ר לָהֶ֑ם מִ֝מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃

14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces.

14יֽ֭וֹצִיאֵם מֵחֹ֣שֶׁךְ וְצַלְמָ֑וֶת וּמוֹסְר֖וֹתֵיהֶ֣ם יְנַתֵּֽק׃

15Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

15יוֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה חַסְדּ֑וֹ וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו לִבְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

16For He has broken the gates of bronze, And cut the bars of iron in two.

16כִּֽי־ שִׁ֭בַּר דַּלְת֣וֹת נְחֹ֑שֶׁת וּבְרִיחֵ֖י בַרְזֶ֣ל גִּדֵּֽעַ׃

17Fools, because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

17אֱ֭וִלִים מִדֶּ֣רֶךְ פִּשְׁעָ֑ם וּֽ֝מֵעֲוֺֽנֹתֵיהֶ֗ם יִתְעַנּֽוּ׃

18Their soul abhorred all manner of food, And they drew near to the gates of death.

18כָּל־ אֹ֭כֶל תְּתַעֵ֣ב נַפְשָׁ֑ם וַ֝יַּגִּ֗יעוּ עַד־ שַׁ֥עֲרֵי מָֽוֶת׃

19Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses.

19וַיִּזְעֲק֣וּ אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה בַּצַּ֣ר לָהֶ֑ם מִ֝מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃

20He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

20יִשְׁלַ֣ח דְּ֭בָרוֹ וְיִרְפָּאֵ֑ם וִֽ֝ימַלֵּ֗ט מִשְּׁחִיתוֹתָֽם׃ ‪‬׆‬

21Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

21יוֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה חַסְדּ֑וֹ וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו לִבְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃ ‪‬׆‬

22Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.

22וְ֭יִזְבְּחוּ זִבְחֵ֣י תוֹדָ֑ה וִֽיסַפְּר֖וּ מַעֲשָׂ֣יו בְּרִנָּֽה׃ ‪‬׆‬

23Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters,

23יוֹרְדֵ֣י הַ֭יָּם בָּאֳנִיּ֑וֹת עֹשֵׂ֥י מְ֝לָאכָ֗ה בְּמַ֣יִם רַבִּֽים׃ ‪‬׆‬

24They see the works of the LORD, And His wonders in the deep.

24הֵ֣מָּה רָ֭אוּ מַעֲשֵׂ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו בִּמְצוּלָֽה׃ ‪‬׆‬

25For He commands and raises the stormy wind, Which lifts up the waves of the sea.

25וַיֹּ֗אמֶר וַֽ֭יַּעֲמֵד ר֣וּחַ סְעָרָ֑ה וַתְּרוֹמֵ֥ם גַּלָּֽיו׃ ‪‬׆‬

26They mount up to the heavens, They go down again to the depths; Their soul melts because of trouble.

26יַעֲל֣וּ שָׁ֭מַיִם יֵרְד֣וּ תְהוֹמ֑וֹת נַ֝פְשָׁ֗ם בְּרָעָ֥ה תִתְמוֹגָֽג׃

27They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits’ end.

27יָח֣וֹגּוּ וְ֭יָנוּעוּ כַּשִּׁכּ֑וֹר וְכָל־ חָ֝כְמָתָ֗ם תִּתְבַּלָּֽע׃

28Then they cry out to the LORD in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses.

28וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה בַּצַּ֣ר לָהֶ֑ם וּֽ֝מִמְּצֽוּקֹתֵיהֶ֗ם יוֹצִיאֵֽם׃

29He calms the storm, So that its waves are still.

29יָקֵ֣ם סְ֭עָרָה לִדְמָמָ֑ה וַ֝יֶּחֱשׁ֗וּ גַּלֵּיהֶֽם׃

30Then they are glad because they are quiet; So He guides them to their desired haven.

30וַיִּשְׂמְח֥וּ כִֽי־ יִשְׁתֹּ֑קוּ וַ֝יַּנְחֵ֗ם אֶל־ מְח֥וֹז חֶפְצָֽם׃

31Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

31יוֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה חַסְדּ֑וֹ וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו לִבְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

32Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, And praise Him in the company of the elders.

32וִֽ֭ירֹמְמוּהוּ בִּקְהַל־ עָ֑ם וּבְמוֹשַׁ֖ב זְקֵנִ֣ים יְהַלְלֽוּהוּ׃

33He turns rivers into a wilderness, And the watersprings into dry ground;

33יָשֵׂ֣ם נְהָר֣וֹת לְמִדְבָּ֑ר וּמֹצָ֥אֵי מַ֝֗יִם לְצִמָּאֽוֹן׃

34A fruitful land into barrenness, For the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

34אֶ֣רֶץ פְּ֭רִי לִמְלֵחָ֑ה מֵ֝רָעַ֗ת יֹ֣שְׁבֵי בָֽהּ׃

35He turns a wilderness into pools of water, And dry land into watersprings.

35יָשֵׂ֣ם מִ֭דְבָּר לַֽאֲגַם־ מַ֑יִם וְאֶ֥רֶץ צִ֝יָּ֗ה לְמֹצָ֥אֵי מָֽיִם׃

36There He makes the hungry dwell, That they may establish a city for a dwelling place,

36וַיּ֣וֹשֶׁב שָׁ֣ם רְעֵבִ֑ים וַ֝יְכוֹנְנ֗וּ עִ֣יר מוֹשָֽׁב׃

37And sow fields and plant vineyards, That they may yield a fruitful harvest.

37וַיִּזְרְע֣וּ שָׂ֭דוֹת וַיִּטְּע֣וּ כְרָמִ֑ים וַ֝יַּעֲשׂ֗וּ פְּרִ֣י תְבֽוּאָה׃

38He also blesses them, and they multiply greatly; And He does not let their cattle decrease.

38וַיְבָרֲכֵ֣ם וַיִּרְבּ֣וּ מְאֹ֑ד וּ֝בְהֶמְתָּ֗ם לֹ֣א יַמְעִֽיט׃

39When they are diminished and brought low Through oppression, affliction, and sorrow,

39וַיִּמְעֲט֥וּ וַיָּשֹׁ֑חוּ מֵעֹ֖צֶר רָעָ֣ה וְיָגֽוֹן׃ ‪‬׆‬

40He pours contempt on princes, And causes them to wander in the wilderness where there is no way;

40שֹׁפֵ֣ךְ בּ֭וּז עַל־ נְדִיבִ֑ים וַ֝יַּתְעֵ֗ם בְּתֹ֣הוּ לֹא־ דָֽרֶךְ׃

41Yet He sets the poor on high, far from affliction, And makes their families like a flock.

41וַיְשַׂגֵּ֣ב אֶבְי֣וֹן מֵע֑וֹנִי וַיָּ֥שֶׂם כַּ֝צֹּ֗אן מִשְׁפָּחֽוֹת׃

42The righteous see it and rejoice, And all iniquity stops its mouth.

42יִרְא֣וּ יְשָׁרִ֣ים וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ וְכָל־ עַ֝וְלָ֗ה קָ֣פְצָה פִּֽיהָ׃

43Whoever is wise will observe these things, And they will understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

43מִי־ חָכָ֥ם וְיִשְׁמָר־ אֵ֑לֶּה וְ֝יִתְבּֽוֹנְנ֗וּ חַֽסְדֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
