Brotherly love must continue.1Let brotherly love continue.
Do not neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.2Stop neglecting to show hospitality to strangers, for by showing hospitality some have had angels as their guests without being aware of it.
Remember those in prison as though you were in prison with them, and those ill-treated as though you too felt their torment.3Continue to remember those in prison as if you were in prison with them, as well as those who are mistreated, since they also are only mortal.
Marriage must be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers.4Let marriage be kept honorable in every way, and the marriage bed undefiled. For God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery.
Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you and I will never abandon you."5Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for God has said, "I will never leave you or abandon you."
So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"6Hence we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?"
Remember your leaders, who spoke God's message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith.7Remember your leaders, those who have spoken God's word to you. Think about the impact of their lives, and imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!8Jesus, the Messiah, is the same yesterday and today—and forever!
Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them.9Stop being carried away by all kinds of unusual teachings, for it is good that the heart be strengthened by grace, not by food laws that have never helped those who follow them.
We have an altar that those who serve in the tabernacle have no right to eat from.10We have an altar, and those who serve in the tent have no right to eat at it.
For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp.11For the bodies of animals, whose blood is taken into the sanctuary by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp.
Therefore, to sanctify the people by his own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp.12That is why Jesus, in order to sanctify the people by his own blood, also suffered outside the city gate.
We must go out to him, then, outside the camp, bearing the abuse he experienced.13Therefore go to him outside the camp and endure the insults he endured.
For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.14For here we have no permanent city but are looking for the one that is coming.
Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, acknowledging his name.15Therefore, through him let us always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess his name.
And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for God is pleased with such sacrifices. 16Do not neglect to do good and to be generous, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls and will give an account for their work. Let them do this with joy and not with complaints, for this would be no advantage for you.17Continue to follow and be submissive to your leaders, since they are watching over your souls as those who will have to give a word of explanation. By doing this, you will be letting them carry out their duties joyfully, and not with grief, for that would be harmful for you.
Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.18Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.
I especially ask you to pray that I may be restored to you very soon. 19I especially ask you to do this so that I may be brought back to you sooner.
Now may the God of peace who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ,20Now may the God of peace, who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep,
equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen. 21equip you with everything good to do his will, accomplishing in us what pleases him through Jesus, the Messiah. To him be glory forever and ever! Amen.
Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, bear with my message of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you briefly.22I urge you, brothers, to listen patiently to my encouraging message, for I have written you a short letter.
You should know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes soon, he will be with me when I see you.23You should know that our brother Timothy has been set free. If he comes soon, he will be with me when I see you.
Greetings to all your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy send you greetings.24Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who are from Italy greet you.
Grace be with you all. 25May grace be with all of you!
