Psalm 90
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
Lord, you've been our refuge from generation to generation.1Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!
Before the mountains were formed or the earth and the world were brought forth, you are God from eternity to eternity.2Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.
You return people to dust merely by saying, "Return, you mortals!"3You turn people back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, you mortals!”
One thousand years in your sight are but a single day that passes by, just like a night watch.4For you, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours.
You will sweep them away while they are asleep— by morning they are like growing grass.5You sweep people away like dreams that disappear. They are like grass that springs up in the morning.
In the morning it blossoms and is renewed, but toward evening, it fades and withers.6In the morning it blooms and flourishes, but by evening it is dry and withered.
Indeed, we are consumed by your anger and terrified by your wrath.7We wither beneath your anger; we are overwhelmed by your fury.
You have set our iniquities before you, what we have concealed in the light of your presence.8You spread out our sins before you— our secret sins—and you see them all.
All our days pass away in your wrath; our years fade away and end like a sigh.9We live our lives beneath your wrath, ending our years with a groan.
We live for 70 years, or 80 years if we're healthy, yet even in the prime years there are troubles and sorrow. They pass by quickly and we fly away.10Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.
Who can know the intensity of your anger? Because our fear of you matches your wrath,11Who can comprehend the power of your anger? Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve.
teach us to keep account of our days so we may develop inner wisdom.12Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.
Please return, LORD! When will it be? Comfort your servants.13O LORD, come back to us! How long will you delay? Take pity on your servants!
Satisfy us in the morning with your gracious love so we may sing for joy and rejoice every day.14Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
Cause us to rejoice throughout the time when you have afflicted us, the years when we have known trouble.15Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good.
May your awesome deeds be revealed to your servants, as well as your splendor to their children.16Let us, your servants, see you work again; let our children see your glory.
May your favor be on us, Lord our God; make our endeavors successful; yes, make our endeavors secure!17And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!
