And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” | 6And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. |
And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God. His house was next door to the synagogue. | 7And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue. |
Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. 14But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or vicious crime, O Jews, I would have reason to accept your complaint. | 14And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you: |
But since it is a matter of questions about words and names and your own law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of these things.” | 15But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters. |
And he drove them from the tribunal. | 16And he drave them from the judgment seat. |
And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of this. | 17Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things. |
After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of the brothers and set sail for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. 21But on taking leave of them he said, “I will return to you if God wills,” and he set sail from Ephesus. | 21But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus. |

When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, | 27And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: |
for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus. | 28For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ. |
