| 2“Command the Israelites to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually. | 2"Command the sons of Israel that they bring to you clear oil from beaten olives for the light, to make a lamp burn continually. |
| 3Outside the veil of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps continually before the LORD from evening until morning. This is to be a permanent statute for the generations to come. | 3"Outside the veil of testimony in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before the LORD continually; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations. |
| 4He shall tend the lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the LORD continually. | 4"He shall keep the lamps in order on the pure gold lampstand before the LORD continually. |
| 5You are also to take fine flour and bake twelve loaves, using two-tenths of an ephah for each loaf, | 5"Then you shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes with it; two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake. |
| 6and set them in two rows—six per row—on the table of pure gold before the LORD. | 6"You shall set them in two rows, six to a row, on the pure gold table before the LORD. |
| 7And you are to place pure frankincense near each row, so that it may serve as a memorial portion for the bread, an offering made by fire to the LORD. | 7"You shall put pure frankincense on each row that it may be a memorial portion for the bread, even an offering by fire to the LORD. |
| 8Every Sabbath day the bread is to be set out before the LORD on behalf of the Israelites as a permanent covenant. | 8"Every sabbath day he shall set it in order before the LORD continually; it is an everlasting covenant for the sons of Israel. |
| 9It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in a holy place; for it is to him a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD—his portion forever.” | 9"It shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place; for it is most holy to him from the LORD'S offerings by fire, his portion forever." |
| 10Now the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father went out among the Israelites, and a fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite. | 10Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel; and the Israelite woman's son and a man of Israel struggled with each other in the camp. |
| 11The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse. So they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) | 11The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. | 12They placed him in custody until the will of the LORD should be made clear to them. | 12They put him in custody so that the command of the LORD might be made clear to them. |
| 13Then the LORD said to Moses, | 13Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, |
| 14“Take the blasphemer outside the camp, and have all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then have the whole assembly stone him. | 14"Bring the one who has cursed outside the camp, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then let all the congregation stone him. |
| 15And you are to tell the Israelites, ‘If anyone curses his God, he shall bear the consequences of his sin. | 15"You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If anyone curses his God, then he will bear his sin. |
| 16Whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD must surely be put to death; the whole assembly must surely stone him, whether he is a foreign resident or native; if he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death. | 16'Moreover, the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death. |
| 17And if a man takes the life of anyone else, he must surely be put to death. | 17'If a man takes the life of any human being, he shall surely be put to death. |
| 18Whoever kills an animal must make restitution—life for life. | 18'The one who takes the life of an animal shall make it good, life for life. |
| 19If anyone injures his neighbor, whatever he has done must be done to him: | 19'If a man injures his neighbor, just as he has done, so it shall be done to him: |
| 20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Just as he injured the other person, the same must be inflicted on him. | 20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; just as he has injured a man, so it shall be inflicted on him. |
| 21Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a man must be put to death. | 21'Thus the one who kills an animal shall make it good, but the one who kills a man shall be put to death. |
| 22You are to have the same standard of law for the foreign resident and the native; for I am the LORD your God.’ ” | 22'There shall be one standard for you; it shall be for the stranger as well as the native, for I am the LORD your God.'" |
| 23Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. So the Israelites did as the LORD had commanded Moses. | 23Then Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, and they brought the one who had cursed outside the camp and stoned him with stones. Thus the sons of Israel did, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. |
