To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. | 1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. |
The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. | 2The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. |
The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. | 3The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. |
I said, “LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.” | 4I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. |
My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die, and his name perish?” | 5Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish? |
And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it. | 6And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it. |
All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt. | 7All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. |
“An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.” | 8An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. |
Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. | 9Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. |
But You, O LORD, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them. | 10But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. |
By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me. | 11By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. |
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever. | 12And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever. |
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen. | 13Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. |
