New King James Version | Berean Study Bible |
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. | 1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble. |
The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. | 2The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will bless him in the land and refuse to surrender him to the will of his foes. |
The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. | 3The LORD will sustain him on his bed of illness and restore him from his bed of sickness. |
I said, “LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.” | 4I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against You.” |
My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die, and his name perish?” | 5My enemies say with malice: “When will he die and be forgotten?” |
And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it. | 6My visitor speaks falsehood; he gathers slander in his heart; he goes out and spreads it abroad. |
All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt. | 7All who hate me whisper against me; they imagine the worst for me: |
“An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.” | 8“A vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!” |
Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. | 9Even my close friend whom I trusted, the one who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. |
But You, O LORD, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them. | 10But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay them. |
By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me. | 11By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. |
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever. | 12In my integrity You uphold me and set me in Your presence forever. |
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen. | 13Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen. |
