New International VersionNET Bible
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.1For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.
Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.2Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you at all!
Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.3And I testify again to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.4You who are trying to be declared righteous by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!
For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.5For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait expectantly for the hope of righteousness.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision carries any weight--the only thing that matters is faith working through love.
You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?7You were running well; who prevented you from obeying the truth?
That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.8This persuasion does not come from the one who calls you!
"A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough."9A little yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise!
I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty.10I am confident in the Lord that you will accept no other view. But the one who is confusing you will pay the penalty, whoever he may be.
Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.11Now, brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.
As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!12I wish those agitators would go so far as to castrate themselves!
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.13For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another.
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."14For the whole law can be summed up in a single commandment, namely, "You must love your neighbor as yourself."
If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.15However, if you continually bite and devour one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.16But I say, live by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.17For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want.
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;19Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,
idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions20idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions,
and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.21envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things. I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God!
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.23gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.24Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.25If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.
Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.26Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.
