| 2And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ, a King." | 2And they began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Messiah, a king." |
| 3So Pilate asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered him and said, "It is as you say." | 3So Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "You have said so," Jesus replied. |

| 6When Pilate heard it, he asked whether the man was a Galilean. | 6On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean. |

| 16"Therefore I will punish Him and release Him." | 16Therefore, I will punish him and then release him." |
| 17Now he was obliged to release to them at the feast one prisoner. | 17 |

| 22And he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has this man done? | 23But they were insistent, with loud voices asking that He be crucified. And their voices began to prevail. | 23But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. |
| 24And Pilate pronounced sentence that their demand be granted. | 24So Pilate decided to grant their demand. |
| 25And he released the man they were asking for who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, but he delivered Jesus to their will. | 25He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will. |

| 39One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!" | 39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!" |
| 40But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? | 40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? |
| 41"And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." | 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." |
| 42And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" | 42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." |
