1He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there whose hand was withered.1Then Jesus entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.
2They were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.2They watched Jesus closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they could accuse him.
3He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and come forward!"3So he said to the man who had the withered hand, "Stand up among all these people."
4And He said to them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent.4Then he said to them, "Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath, or evil, to save a life or destroy it?" But they were silent.
5After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.5After looking around at them in anger, grieved by the hardness of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." 6The Pharisees went out and immediately began conspiring with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.6So the Pharisees went out immediately and began plotting with the Herodians, as to how they could assassinate him.
7Jesus withdrew to the sea with His disciples; and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and also from Judea,7Then Jesus went away with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him. And from Judea,
8and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon, a great number of people heard of all that He was doing and came to Him.8Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan River, and around Tyre and Sidon a great multitude came to him when they heard about the things he had done.
9And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him;9Because of the crowd, he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him so the crowd would not press toward him.
10for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him.10For he had healed many, so that all who were afflicted with diseases pressed toward him in order to touch him.
11Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, "You are the Son of God!"11And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God."
12And He earnestly warned them not to tell who He was.12But he sternly ordered them not to make him known.
13And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him.13Now Jesus went up the mountain and called for those he wanted, and they came to him.
14And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach,14He appointed twelve (whom he named apostles), so that they would be with him and he could send them to preach

18and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot;18and Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot,
19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
20And He came home, and the crowd gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat a meal.20Now Jesus went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat.
21When His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, "He has lost His senses."21When his family heard this they went out to restrain him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."
22The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons."22The experts in the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and, "By the ruler of demons he casts out demons."
23And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan?23So he called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan?
24"If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom will not be able to stand.
25"If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.25If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
26"If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!26And if Satan rises against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand and his end has come.
27"But no one can enter the strong man's house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.27But no one is able to enter a strong man's house and steal his property unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can thoroughly plunder his house.
28"Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;28I tell you the truth, people will be forgiven for all sins, even all the blasphemies they utter.
29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin "--29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is guilty of an eternal sin"
30because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."30(because they said, "He has an unclean spirit").
31Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him.31Then Jesus' mother and his brothers came. Standing outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.
32A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You."32A crowd was sitting around him and they said to him, "Look, your mother and your brothers are outside looking for you."
33Answering them, He said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?"33He answered them and said, "Who are my mother and my brothers?"
34Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers!34And looking at those who were sitting around him in a circle, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers!
35"For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother."35For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother."
