| 1The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. | 1The Pharisees and Sadducees approached, and as a test, asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. |
| 2But He replied to them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.' | 2He answered them: "When evening comes you say, It will be good weather because the sky is red.' |
| 3"And in the morning, 'There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? | 3And in the morning, Today will be stormy because the sky is red and threatening.' You know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can't read the signs of the times. |
| 4"An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them and went away. | 4An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah." Then He left them and went away. |
| 5And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread. | 5The disciples reached the other shore, and they had forgotten to take bread. |

| 10"Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets full you picked up? | 10Or the seven loaves for the 4,000 and how many large baskets you collected? |
| 11"How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." | 11Why is it you don't understand that when I told you, Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees,' it wasn't about bread?" |

| 28"Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." | 28I assure you: There are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." |
