O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah: | 7O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness, Selah |
The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel. | 8the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. |
Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary. | 9Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad; you restored your inheritance as it languished; |
Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor. | 10your flock found a dwelling in it; in your goodness, O God, you provided for the needy. |
The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. | 11The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host: |
Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil. | 12“The kings of the armies—they flee, they flee!” The women at home divide the spoil— |
Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold. | 13though you men lie among the sheepfolds— the wings of a dove covered with silver, its pinions with shimmering gold. |
When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon. | 14When the Almighty scatters kings there, let snow fall on Zalmon. |
The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan. | 15O mountain of God, mountain of Bashan; O many-peaked mountain, mountain of Bashan! |
Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever. | 16Why do you look with hatred, O many-peaked mountain, at the mount that God desired for his abode, yes, where the LORD will dwell forever? |
The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place. | 17The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary. |
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them. | 18You ascended on high, leading a host of captives in your train and receiving gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that the LORD God may dwell there. |
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. | 19Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah |
He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death. | 20Our God is a God of salvation, and to GOD, the Lord, belong deliverances from death. |
But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses. | 21But God will strike the heads of his enemies, the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways. |
The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea: | 22The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea, |
That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same. | 23that you may strike your feet in their blood, that the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from the foe.” |
They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary. | 24Your procession is seen, O God, the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary— |
The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels. | 25the singers in front, the musicians last, between them virgins playing tambourines: |
Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel. | 26“Bless God in the great congregation, the LORD, O you who are of Israel’s fountain!” |
There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali. | 27There is Benjamin, the least of them, in the lead, the princes of Judah in their throng, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali. |
Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us. | 28Summon your power, O God, the power, O God, by which you have worked for us. |

Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds. | 34Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel, and whose power is in the skies. |
