| 38But when Jesus turned around and saw them following, he asked them, "What are you looking for?" They asked him, "Rabbi," (which is translated "Teacher"), "where are you staying?" | 38And Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to Him, "Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?" |
| 39He told them, "Come and see!" So they went and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon. | 39He said to them, "Come, and you will see." So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. |
| 40Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. | 40One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. |
| 41The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and say to him, "We have found the Anointed One!" (which is translated "Messiah"). | 41He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah " (which translated means Christ). |
| 42He led Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him intently and said, "You are Simon, John's son. You will be called Cephas!" (which is translated "Peter"). | 42He brought him to Jesus.
