Let brotherly love continue. | 1Let love of the brethren continue. |
Don't neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it. | 2Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. |
Remember the prisoners, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily. | 3Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body. |
Marriage must be respected by all, and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge immoral people and adulterers. | 4Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. |
Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you. | 5Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," |
Therefore, we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? | 6so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?" |
Remember your leaders who have spoken God's word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith. | 7Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. |
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. | 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. |
Don't be led astray by various kinds of strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be established by grace and not by foods, since those involved in them have not benefited. | 9Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited. |
We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle do not have a right to eat. | 10We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. |
For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the most holy place by the high priest as a sin offering are burned outside the camp. | 11For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. |
Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the gate, so that He might sanctify the people by His own blood. | 12Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. |
Let us then go to Him outside the camp, bearing His disgrace. | 13So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach. |
For we do not have an enduring city here; instead, we seek the one to come. | 14For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come. |
Therefore, through Him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess His name. | 15Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. |
Don't neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices. | 16And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. |
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. | 17Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you. |
Pray for us; for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, wanting to conduct ourselves honorably in everything. | 18Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things. |
And I especially urge you to pray that I may be restored to you very soon. | 19And I urge you all the more to do this, so that I may be restored to you the sooner. |
Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus--the great Shepherd of the sheep--with the blood of the everlasting covenant, | 20Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, |
equip you with all that is good to do His will, working in us what is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ. Glory belongs to Him forever and ever. Amen. | 21equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. |
Brothers, I urge you to receive this message of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly. | 22But I urge you, brethren, bear with this word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly. |
Be aware that our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes soon enough, he will be with me when I see you. | 23Take notice that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom, if he comes soon, I will see you. |
Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who are from Italy greet you. | 24Greet all of your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you. |
Grace be with all of you. | 25Grace be with you all. |
