These are but the beginning of the birth pains. | 8For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. |
“But be on your guard. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten in synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them. | 9"But you, be on your guard! They will hand you over to sanhedrins, and you will be flogged in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of Me, as a witness to them. |
And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations. | 10And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations. |
And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. | 11So when they arrest you and hand you over, don't worry beforehand what you will say. On the contrary, whatever is given to you in that hour--say it. For it isn't you speaking, but the Holy Spirit. |

Pray that it may not happen in winter. | 18Pray it won't happen in winter. |
For in those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never will be. | 19For those will be days of tribulation, the kind that hasn't been from the beginning of the world, which God created, until now and never will be again! |
And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days. | 20Unless the Lord limited those days, no one would survive. But He limited those days because of the elect, whom He chose. |

lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. | 36Otherwise, he might come suddenly and find you sleeping. |
And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” | 37And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Be alert!" |
