2See how Your enemies rage, how Your foes have reared their heads. | 2For look, your enemies are making a commotion; those who hate you are hostile. |
3With cunning they scheme against Your people and conspire against those You cherish, | 3They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish. |
4saying, “Come, let us erase them as a nation; may the name of Israel be remembered no more.” | 4They say, "Come on, let's annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more." |
5For with one mind they plot together, they form an alliance against You— | 5Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you. |
6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, | 6It includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, |
7of Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, of Philistia with the people of Tyre. | 7Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. |

13Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind. | 13O my God, make them like dead thistles, like dead weeds blown away by the wind! |
14As fire consumes a forest, as a flame sets the mountains ablaze, | 14Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, |
15so pursue them with Your tempest, and terrify them with Your storm. | 15chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm. |
16Cover their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD. | 16Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD. |
17May they be ever ashamed and terrified; may they perish in disgrace. | 17May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame! |
18May they know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, are Most High over all the earth. | 18Then they will know that you alone are the LORD, the sovereign king over all the earth. |
