In addition to the regular burnt offering with its drink offering
This phrase indicates that the offering mentioned is supplementary to the daily sacrifices already established in the Mosaic Law. The regular burnt offering, known as the "tamid," was a continual sacrifice made every morning and evening (Exodus 29:38-42). The drink offering, often wine, accompanied these sacrifices, symbolizing the pouring out of one's life in devotion to God (Philippians 2:17). This addition underscores the importance of continual atonement and dedication to God, reflecting the need for constant communion with Him.

one male goat is to be presented to the LORD
The male goat, or "sa'ir," was commonly used as a sin offering, particularly on occasions requiring atonement for the community (Leviticus 4:23-24). The choice of a goat highlights the seriousness of sin and the need for a substitute to bear the iniquity of the people. This act of presentation to the LORD signifies the transfer of sin from the people to the animal, a foreshadowing of Christ's ultimate sacrifice (Hebrews 9:13-14).

as a sin offering
The sin offering, or "chatat," was a crucial part of the sacrificial system, designed to atone for unintentional sins and cleanse the sanctuary from impurity (Leviticus 4:1-35). This offering emphasizes the holiness of God and the need for purification from sin to maintain fellowship with Him. It points forward to Jesus Christ, who became the perfect sin offering, taking upon Himself the sins of humanity (2 Corinthians 5:21). The repeated need for sin offerings in the Old Testament highlights the insufficiency of animal sacrifices and the necessity of Christ's once-for-all atonement.

Teaching Points
The Necessity of Atonement
The sin offering underscores the seriousness of sin and the need for atonement. It reminds us that sin separates us from God and requires a sacrifice for reconciliation.

Symbolism of the Sacrifice
The male goat as a sin offering symbolizes the transfer of sin and the need for purity. It points to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who bore our sins on the cross.

Regularity in Worship
The inclusion of the sin offering with the regular burnt offering highlights the importance of consistent and regular worship practices. It encourages believers to maintain a disciplined spiritual life.

Repentance and Forgiveness
The sin offering is a call to repentance and a reminder of God's provision for forgiveness. It challenges us to examine our hearts and seek God's mercy continually.

Christ as the Fulfillment
The sacrificial system finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, who is the perfect and final sin offering. This truth calls us to place our faith in Him and live in the freedom of His grace.Verse 15. - One kid of the goats. "One hairy one (שָׂעִיר) of the she goats (עֵן)." See on Numbers 7:16. This was probably offered first in order, according to the usual analogy of such sacrifices (Exodus 29:10-14). There is no authority for supposing that this sin offering superseded the one mentioned in Numbers 15:24 sq. This was essentially part of the customary routine of sacrifice; that was essentially occasional, and proper to some unforeseen contingency. It is likely enough that the national conscience would in fact content itself with the first, but it does not in the least follow that such was the intention of the legislator.
