At (in) that there time, Jesus went on the Sabbath through the grainfields; and His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and eat.
And the Pharisees having seen, said to Him, Behold, Your disciples are doing what is not permitted to do on the Sabbath.
And He said to them, Have you not read what David did when he was hungry and those with him?
How he entered into the house of God and he ate the bread of the Presence (Presentation, to purposefully set forth before, Providence, Show-bread, latin-propositionis-Presence root is proposition), which was not permitted for him to eat, nor for those with him, except for the priests only?
Or have you not read in the law, that on the Sabbaths the priests in the temple violate (profane, break, cross over improperly without authorization, latin-violant-violate) the Sabbath and are guiltless (not-criminal, non-causative, not acused, latin- sine crimine- without crime)?
However I say to you, that a greater (neuter adjective) than the temple is here.
However if you had known what [this] is, I want (desire, will) mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless (non-criminal). 8For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath. 9And having departed from there, He went into their synagogue. 10And behold, a man having a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath?- so that they might accuse Him. 11And He said to them, What man will there be from out of you, who will have one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and raise it up? 12How much more valuable (surpassing, latin- magis melior- much better) then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is permitted to do good (kalos) on the Sabbath. 13Then He says to the man, Stretch out your hand. And he stretched it out and it was restored as healthy as the other. 14And having gone out, the Pharisees held a council (took/received counsel) against him on how they might destroy Him. 15And Jesus having known, withdrew from there and great crowds followed Him, and He healed them all, 16And strictly warned (censured, warned to prevent wrong) them so that they should not make Him apparent. 17So that that might be fulfilled having been spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, 18Behold My Servant (pais- often child), whom I have chosen, My Beloved, in whom My soul is well-pleased (well-seemed, well-supposed). I will place (put, lay) My Spirit upon Him and He will announce judgment (justice) to the ethnicities (nations). 19He will not contend (confront in heated debate that results in discord/needless strife) nor will He cry out, nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. 20A reed bruised He shall not break, and a wick smoldering He will not quench until He casts out (banishes, brings, puts out) judgment into victory (NASB- leads justice to victory). 21And the ethnicities (nations) will hope in His name. 22Then one demonized, blind and mute, was brought to Him and He healed him, so that the mute [man] spoke and saw. 23And all the crowds were astonished and said, Is this the Son of David? 24And the Pharisees having heard, said, This [Man] does not cast out the demons, except by (in) Beelzebul the principal ruler of the demons. 25And having known the inner-passions driving their thoughts, He said to them, Every kingdom having divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house having divided against (kata) itself will not stand. 26And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against (upon) himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27And if I cast out demons by (in) Beelzebul, by (in) whom do your sons cast [them] out? On account of this, they will be judges of you. 28However if I cast out demons by (in) the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29Or how is anyone able to enter into the house of the strong [man] and snatch (seize, greek-harpasai) his goods, except he first bind the strong [man]? And then he will thoroughly plunder (snatch up, seize) his house. 30The one not being with Me is against Me; and the one not gathering with Me scatters. 31Because of this I say to you, Every sin and blasphemy will be remitted men; however blasphemy of the Spirit will not be remitted. 32And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be remitted him; however whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be remitted him, neither in this age nor in the coming [one]. 33Either make the good and its fruit good, or make the tree rotten and the fruit of it rotten: for the tree is known from out of its fruit. 34Offspring of vipers! How are you able to speak good things being evil? For from out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings out (casts/puts out, latin-profert-produces) good things from out of his good treasure; the evil man brings out evil things from out of his evil treasure. 36And I say to you, That every non-working (idle, careless) saying (rhema) that men will speak, they will render a word (an account) concerning it in the day of judgment. 37For from out of your words, you will be justified, and from out of your words, you will be condemned. 38Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, Teacher, we wish to see a sign from You. 39And answering, He said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after (seeks upon) a sign, and a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. 40For just as Jonah was in the belly (koilia) of the huge fish (ketos, sea monster, latin-ceti-whale, the greek ketos were depicted in art as a serpentine fish) three days and three nights, thus the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. 41The men of Nineveh will stand up (raise up) in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, greater than Jonah is here. 42The queen of the south will rise up (awaken) in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; because she came from out of the limits (boundaries) of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, greater than Solomon is here. 43And when the unclean spirit is gone out away from the man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest and finds none. 44Then it says, I will return unto my house from where I came out. And having come, it finds it being unoccupied (at leisure) and swept, and adorned (beautified, arranged, put in order). 45Then it goes and takes with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having entered in they reside there; and the last of that man becomes worse than the first. Thus it will be also to this evil generation. 46However while He was speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside seeking to speak to Him. 47Then someone said to Him, Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You. 48And answering, He said to the one telling Him, Who is My mother? And who are My brothers? 49And having stretched out His hand upon His disciples, He said, Behold, My mother and My brothers. 50For whoever shall do the will of My Father who is in the heavens, he is My brother and sister and mother. |
