2“But who will make me as the first months and like the days when God preserved me?

3His awe he made above my head in spreading his lamp over me, and by his light I walked in the dark

4As I was in the days of my favor when God was resting over my tent

5And when The Almighty was surrounding my youth

7When I proceeded to the gate and I called, and I sat in the market as the afflicted

8Young men saw me and they hid themselves, and the Elders stood and were amazed at me

9And Princes were restrained in words, and they placed their hands on their mouths

10The voices of Leaders were concealed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their jaws

11Because the ear that heard praised me, and he whom I saw testified to me

12Because I saved the poor from suffering, and the orphan who had no helper

13The blessing of the perishing would enter upon me, and the heart of the widow was gladdened

14I wore truth and it clothed me as a mantle and a crown of judgment

15I have been eyes to the blind and feet to the crippled

16I was a father to the afflicted, and judgment that I had not known I searched out

17I have broken the molars of the evil man and I took the prey from between his teeth

18And I said to the poor people: ‘I shall deliver’, and I shall end like a reed stalk, and like the sand of the seas I shall multiply my days

19My roots are planted by the waters and the dew will stay, and in harvest I shall be invited

20It was held with me, also my bow is renewed in my hands

21And if they heard me and they hoped and they heard my advice

22And from my words they have not erred and my word was pleasing to them

23They waited for me as for the rain and their mouths they opened wide as for spring rain

24I shall laugh at them and they will not believe, and in the light of my face they will not walk

25I shall search their ways and I shall return and I shall dwell as a King among his army and like a man who comforts mourners
