This term is rich in meaning, often translated as "steadfast love," "mercy," or "kindness." It conveys a sense of loyalty and faithfulness, reflecting God's unwavering commitment to His covenant with His people. In the historical context of ancient Israel, chesed was a foundational concept, representing the relational bond between God and His chosen people. It is a love that is not based on merit but on God's character, offering believers assurance of His eternal faithfulness. Verse 5. - Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens.
