Confidence is to be placed in God Let all the earth This phrase calls for a universal acknowledgment of God's sovereignty. The Hebrew word for "earth" is "erets," which encompasses not just the physical land but all its inhabitants. This is a call for all creation, not just humanity, to recognize the Creator. Verse 8. - Let all the earth fear the Lord. The righteous alone have a right to "praise" God (see ver. 1), but "all the earth" - i.e. all mankind - may be called upon to "fear" him.
